What if we were allowed to vote on what would we like to change and Bioware just applied the balance change without testing?  We would test them ourselves.

With some sort of rules of course to prevent abuse.

For example:

1. 5 balance changes per month max

2. Make a list on what needs a balance change the most and vote. Only 1 vote can be cast per person on his favorite balance change

3. 500 votes minimum (FOR) should be cast for a balance change to a particular weapon/power to be considered

4. A buff or a nerf CAN'T be more than 10% at a time

5. Can only balance change weapons or powers. No changes to enemies.

6. No changes that require patch or are hard to do.

What do you think? What does Bioware think about this? :)

It sounds like a great idea, but BioWare doesn't listen to great ideas.....they listen to EA

Yeah. But in this case they don't need anyone to test it. Just apply the changes. That's it. Only once per month or 2 weeks.

It would cause rage and indignation but I think it would also keep the interest level from dropping as rapidly.

I think it would be hard to implement a safe way to vote on these things.

But even more, I think that bsn represents only a small % of the ME3 MP players, so I don't know how fair it would be to those who aren't around here...

That sounds kinda like politics.
There'd be so many tears and butthurt along the way.
It might actually make this forum even more toxic.

On the other hand it'd give power to the people.

Eeeeh I'm 50/50 on the suggestion.

I would definitely agree to this. I doubt Bioware will do it for ME3 but they should implement it for Mass Effect 4 certainly.

But people on BSN probably know the best on what needs a change the most. I think we can be a serious community when we want. I mean - look at the surveys. People voted and most of them didn't BS around and voted for the right thing.

This is only a fun thread, really. Not going to get anything done - generally letting game communities have the biggest say on balance (and story - especially with this damn game) leads to ruin. Community input, not decision making is the key.
But I would anticipate a lot of unneccessary buffs to all the things instead of nerfing the one thing if community really handled the balance changes.

Now, if you'll excuse my unwarranted, snooty lecture...

1) Volus Vanguard and Sentinel made Ultra-Rare, to better fit the fluff.
2) Acolyte health and armour damage reduced to pitiful levels (around 30% multiplier tops)
3) Blood Pack Punisher damage increased by about 6%
4) Reegar Carbine armour damage reduced to similar levels as the Acolyte
5) Widow damage increased to match the release date damage percentage discrepancy between it at the Javelin

No. But BSN DID influence A LOT if not THE MOST of the major balance changes before.

It would be fair because the people that come to the BSN to post do it because they are the ones who care about the game most of all. I think its safe to assume that the people who don't visit these forums are on the fence about the game or are happy go lucky.

The people who do come here though care very much about the direction that Mass Effect is going. So why not cater to the ones who care most? After all, it is they who would buy Bioware's games without question and in doing so keep them in business.

Yeah I wasn't saying it would be necessarily a bad idea...
Just that it should be given some thought though. Saying "we're the ones who know how things go therefore we're the ones who get to decide" is... Not exactly what democracy is founded on

I like to think that the people that frequent these forums are fairly familiar with the game. We would end up making the game harder to keep it "interesting", which in turn would have a negative effect on the overall amount of people that play this game.

Most of BSN plays on Gold or Plat.

Most of the playerbase plays on Bronze or Silver.

Most of BSN thinks balance changes should be based around what's weak or OP.

The game is actually balanced around what is used or not used.

BSN is a terrible place to go to get an accurate picture of balancing the game.

Yeah, Bioware totally read comments on forums and don't use it's statistics and analysis. And Protoman nerfed Piranha.

You don't know what BSN thinks or plays on. That's why we VOTE.

I assure you they did. Because they replied to topics with buff or nerf requests. And some balance changes came way too fast to be based on statistics.

Yeah, I guess it would be decently fair that way. Although it should be announced in game in some way.

Great idea in theory, but the cost in man hours, and the numerous pit falls that would undoubtedly accrue along the way leaves me thinking the theory will stay hypothetical.
