Yeah I wasn't saying it would be necessarily a bad idea...
Just that it should be given some thought though. Saying "we're the ones who know how things go therefore we're the ones who get to decide" is... Not exactly what democracy is founded on

If they wanna vote, they can come here - register and vote. Like you know, citizens do? :P

Yeah, I guess it would be decently fair that way. Although it should be announced in game in some way.

They could make 1 of those weekend challenge scrienes. But that's not really necessary. People who really care and play - at least read these forums. So a sticky would be enough.

When Bioware refers to "feedback" in influencing balance changes, they mean the forums.

Then you'll have a bunch of elitist scumbags that play only platinum nuking spawns with AC+reegar+warp+incendiary rounds IV crying for nerfs while the vast majority of people don't even have the chance to try those kits/weapons.

No way.

Also, how can console players test something objectively without real data numbers*? We would see something like "nerf it because it feels too powerful"...and remember that console players are the majority of the playerbase, this is a matter of fact.

*remember those Hardcoresalmon threads "AR compared, SMG compared"...nothing against him but those were pretty pointless threads.

That sounds kinda like politics.
There'd be so many tears and butthurt along the way.
It might actually make this forum even more toxic.

On the other hand it'd give power to the people.

Eeeeh I'm 50/50 on the suggestion.

lol @ thinking BSN represents the overall playerbase at all.

No. But BSN DID influence A LOT if not THE MOST of the major balance changes before.

Yeah, Bioware totally read comments on forums and don't use it's statistics and analysis. And Protoman nerfed Piranha.

I assure you they did. Because they replied to topics with buff or nerf requests. And some balance changes came way too fast to be based on statistics.

Right, and Piranha was nerfed just after DNC_Protoman's thread. :wizard:

Great idea in theory, but the cost in man hours, and the numerous pit falls that would undoubtedly accrue along the way leaves me thinking the theory will stay hypothetical.

If we had only 5 monthly balance changes max with 10% buffs or nerfs max, not much can go vastly wrong.

It's a very naive point of view.

1 vote per person. 1 elitist vote has the same power as 1 scrub vote. If we can be serious, have civilized discussions - we can make a difference in a good way.

Not really. Bioware read the forums. Some buffs and nerfs came way too fast to be based on anything but the forum reaction.

Its a bit like communism. To simplify that reference: it sounds great in theory, but human nature being what it is, it has not worked according to that theory yet (mind you the systems of china, the former sowjet union etc are not what the original communists had in mind).

So your idea sounds quite appealing, but the nature of BSN being what it is...

I mean look at the existing threads! Its not that I don't enjoy them for lulz, but real honest to god proposals, discussions and subsequent voting? Tears (if not blood) would flow if you allowed that! Accusations, mobbing, Permabans everywhere! I'd rather play the game as it is than to loose more parts of this (often hilarious) community to the kind of bickering that would ensue...

I dunno. But if they care about the game they can vote. And their vote and opinion is equally as powerful. 1 vote per person to prevent abuse.

i think an old saying applies to this great idea on paper, but sadly i think would end up in a horrible result on the long run. -A man can be a genius, but a group of men can be total morons-

Always remember that the most powerful member of the cabinet is the janitor. For he knows everything.
Also ditch the Gorilla legs gimme a lithe bunny body with cute floppy ears and I'm in.

Yes. I understand, BSN can be bat-**** crazy sometimes. True. But it also can be serious and helpful and do good things when it wants. That's what I'm counting on. That people will participate in balance change voting as seriously as they did in Bioware map surveys and member surveys. They were all great and had good results.

You know there is this silly thing going around the interwebs, that some people call "doing a 4Chan on a vote" even if it is 1 vote per person, it could easily be a coalition of people doing stupid ****, like "lets vote a 10% buff on harrier for 10 weeks in row" or other silly things like that. Trust, giving reigns on balance to the community, would be the last nail to the coffin for this game.

True. But we have fail-safes. Limited balance change to 5 , limited to montly, limited to 10% buff or nerf max. More suggestions are welcome.

The biggest fallacy here is thinking that this removes the need for testing.

We could also prioritize. Does Harrier needs 10% buff more than a Phaeston? No? Well Phaeston gets it first. And then no balance change for a month for the heads to cool off.

I like the way you think Ziegrif. No one will suspect a damn thing!! Go see Dr. Zed in the morning, he'll handle the surgery.

We will test it. And it could be reversed. But a 10% buff or nerf will not make a big deal. 10% is my number. It could be 5% if we agree on it.

It would be a good idea in theory but in practise people would just vote to buff things like the claymore every week
