Yep. Then you are basically letting them die to ensure victory, but you aren't trying to rule the galaxy. So the new council will be led by a human chairman, but will have an Asari, a Salarian, and Turian on it.

I've heard that the Council is effectively replaced by humanity (or something like that) if you left them to their fate. So you're prettymuch part of the master race if you let them die...

Hmm guess I didn't need to play ME1 over again.  I enjoyed my new vanguard tho

Wait, how do you get the new council with 4 races ending?

Let the Council die with a Paragon character.

Only if you choose "Focus on Sovereign!", I still got the all-human council when I picked the "Let the council die" choice.

This may be a little late, but I just wanted to throw my 2 cents in.

I just finished my last runthrough, and can tell you exactly when the game makes your final save. It's just as the camera fades to black as you walk away grinning from the tower wreckage after the final battle. This is before your choice for councilor. I also watched the timestamp on the file, and it does not modify the file after your choice.

So it looks like the choice to save the council is indeed your last recorded choice, and does not include your council seat choice. Hope that helps, and I wonder how that's gonna play out in ME2

That's utterly weird. We'll see though. I mean it's not like Anderson dies, he becomes Admiral Anderson in ME2.

Thank you, that confirms what I saw. So we'll just have to see how they factors in.

Huh, that's weird. I just went through and finished it out 3 times in a row from the save point right before the choice to save the council. I wanted a save file for all 3 choices (save the Council, focus on Sovereign, and let the Council die). Supposedly the 3 outcomes are, respectively: the Council is grateful and opens a Human seat, a new Council wants a Human seat, and the new Council is made of all Humans.

Well, for the last 2 options, both the ones where the council dies, the conversation after was exactly the same where the new council wants a Human seat, and the third one actually overwrote my second savegame file (new timestamp on same filename). I ended up being Paragon for all 3 endings (even though both paragon and renegade meters were full), so maybe that had something to do with it. Can anyone shed any light on this? Is there any way I can get an all-human council as a Paragon? Thanks

I thought the only way to get the all-human council was if you have more Renegade then Paragon. Dunno how it works if both are maxed out. There is not way to manually trigger it, is there? It just happens if you are Renegade enough.

Yeah, I figured that was the case.  Guess I was 110% Paragon, but only 100% Renegade...  Oh well, no "master race" save file for me, then!

Thanks for the input

Use setrenegade and setparagon commands in the console if you are on PC.

And hope that cheats don't mess anything up.

completely forgot about the console commands!  might as well give it a try, I've got nothing to lose.  I mean, I already have 2 legit save files, no harm in setting paragon to 0, and seeing if I can get the third ending.  thanks for the advice!

well this is just bizarre. I originally beat it as paragon, and saved the council. this made a savefile (.......2009-56-57). Then, i booted from a save right before you make the decision to save the council. i used the console and set my paragon score slightly below my renegade score, and then elected to kill the council. instead of making a new savefile, it just overwrote my paragon/save the council savefile!

I mean I had it overwrite before, but in that case, both endings were paragon, and the only differerence was I said "focus on sovereign" vs "let the council die". so the council died either way, so i can see that savefile being overwritten, because it's the exact same outcome.

but having a renegade/kill the coucil ending overwrite a paragon/save the council one doesn't make any sense. now i have to go back and finish it again to get that paragon ending back... Anyone have any ideas on why this happened?

btw, the saves are labeled:

Char_01-60-3-3-5-1-8-2009-56-57

Char_01-60-3-3-5-1-8-2009-56-56

anyone know what all the numbers mean?

like i said before, it doesnt matter who you selected for the council, the final savefile is created before you make that choice.  your choice to save the council or not is the last recorded choice before the file is created

sorry for all the posts, but i got another update. went back and finished as a paragon and saved the council, and it overwrote my paragon/kill the council file.

I'm starting to think that the numbering doesn't have to do with the choices you make. I just started making copies of the file after every save and adding notes in the name. When it comes time to boot up in ME2, ill just drop the save I want to use into the right folder

It will overwrite the file whenever you replay the end game. This is because it has no need to create a new file, basically it's the same way as it overwrites autosaves or quicksaves whenever you create a new quicksave/autosave. So it does the same with the endgame save, it's not going to create a new endgame save everytime you replay it.

it created a second file the second time i finished it.  I started out by saving before the "save the council" decision.  Then I made my choice, finished it, and a file was created.  Then I reloaded that save before the decision, made a different choice, and a second file was created.  Then they started overwriting eachother.  And there were definitely 2 files created, one ending in 56, and one ending in 57.

Regardless, I've already worked around it by relocating the file and annotating the name of it, so I know what file has what ending.  Then I'll just drop the file of my choosing into the right folder to start up ME2.

Saw on the old forum somewhere that if you saved the council as a renegade that the ending was slightly different, making 4 possible endings.

Instead of praising humanity's charity and bravery, they praise humanity's hard headedness and stuff like that.

Are you sure the names can be anything for ME2? I'd rather keep them the way they were. I put them in different folders.

Yeah, we're on the same page.  To clarify, I moved them to a new folder, and just added "(paragon, council dies)" or whatever at the end.  Then, when I want to play that file, I'll just delete the part I added on, and drop it back in the right folder.

Still I'm concerned about the anderson/udina decision. I guess we just need to wait and see.

Just a bit over one week left! I can't believe it! Except that week just before it's out is going to be living hell for me...
