Going by "your" criteria which Shepard provides a better romance experience?

Please try to take Mark Meers and Jennifer Hale out of the equation.
Not everyone experienced Mass Effect in English.

This is not Meers versus Hale.
This is Male Shepard versus Female Shepard, in the only part of the game that differs greatly: Romance.

Male.

Ashley and Miranda, as well as the shared Liara and Kelly. Male Shepard's only loss is Samantha, IMO.

I'm leaning more towards Female Shepard.

She romances some of my favorite characters:

Garrus Vakarian
Thane Krios
Samantha Traynor [She is the kind of woman that, if she existed I'd be wishing I were a female]
Kaidan Alenko (Kind of growing on me)

Male Shepard still gets some pretty awesome characters to romance.

Miranda isn't half bad (though hugely over rated)
Tali Zorah (man I really like her as a character)

The actual romances for both Shepards are shallow.
You have these amazing characters to romance. They're very deep and have some excellent moments in the Trilogy.

But when it comes down to it, it's a bunch of hoky romantic dialogue and dry humping.
Neither Shepard wins in the romancing department.

So the choice came down to, which of the romantic choices do I like the most.

Male Shepard if we look at the number of choices alone.

Some elements of the story seem better suited to a Male Shepard, I hate to admit, when it comes to "leading up" to romance. I'm thinking of Tali in ME2. Some of her lines--"I've got you."--do work for a JustFriendsShep, female or not, but they just seem odd. At least toward a BroShep, the attraction is there. Similar with Miranda.

But, at the end of the day, I don't think it's a huge disparity between the two when it comes down to the quality of the individual romance arcs with certain LIs.

**POSSIBLE SPOILER BELOW**

*Edit: Heterosexual female Shep certainly got screwed over though. As much as I love Garrus and Kaidan. The truth is that it's completely possible neither is even alive by the end, and Garrus is a one shoot deal. If Kaidan rode the nuke, and Shep didn't for go for Garrus in 2, there's no one for her in 3.

I find Liara and Tali the only truly interesting LI options in the entire trilogy, but mostly Liara, so that's the one I went with for my canon FemShep. Garrus would come close, but I always feel it works better as the "bro" dynamic.

It depends on your preference. I can't stand a few romances such as Liara or Jacob or Kaidan or Ashley. Traynor's is my favorite one for FemShep and Miranda for MaleShep.

FemShep certainly got the raw end of the deal in regards to heterosexual choices available (if both Kaidan and Garrus are dead by ME3) but FemShep still feels like the best one overall. I much prefer the romance dialogue between her and the love interests than what is written for the Male Shep.

Romancing Jacob is most troubling...

I'll say no more. SPOILERS.

To be fair, homosexual BroShep has it worst in the availability department. There's no romance for him at all until 3, and then it's between being ninja-manced by Kaidan (if he's alive) or vulturing Cortez.

. Sadly my FemShep play through got a little convoluted.  I picked a bugged renegade option and got a romance with Liara.<_<

That sucks. Can you go back to a savepoint?

.  No, by the time I figured it out it was too late.  I just imported it and I guess I'll dump her, (x3) and go to Traynor.

This is easy, male Shepard of course. He have more options, plus non of them dies or leaves him for another person. Female Shepard only have 2 romance options that are exclusive to her and doesn't die (When I say die I mean the type of dying where the PC can't save them by doing something. Thane for example: no matter what the player do he always dies.) or leave her. Those are Traynor and Garrus.

It depends on what you like and what you are looking for. My fav is Femshep and Liara as Jennifer Hale and Ali Hillis have the best chemistry together as voice actors. VA chemistry wise, a close second would be broShep and Miranda.

I like Miranda and Jack in ME2, but they go nowhere in ME3. Ashley's character is so screwed up in ME3 it's not worth it. Tali's is probably the best as it intertwines w/in the game, but it comes in very late. The best (though "best" is highly subjective) for quality and quantity and how it's woven into the game is probably femshep and Garrus in ME3. But a non-import femshep only gets Kaidan unless you play her as a lesbian and broshep gets two romances in a non-import, gay or straight.

For sheer quantity that can end "well" it's broShep, but best, as I said, is highly subjective.

Absolutely good point. I understand if they wanted to keep Ashley straight but they could have easily made Kaidan available to a male Shep in ME1.

MaleShep. The way he interacts with Garrus and Kaidan as "buddies" while he has the option of having Ashley as the monogamous LI thorough the series works better narratively, and the game makes it feel like they pay more attention to male shepard in this way than the reverse with Kaidan. Femshep doesnt have the same kind of "friend" dynamic with Tali and/or Liara.

Also if we very simplistically equate Traynor to Steve, maleshep still gets Kelly in ME2. Also through the series I always got the feeling that maleshep was able to romance anyone who logically you would think he could, while femshep got snubbed a few more times.

ALSO Maleshep gets hit on a lot more haha.

I'd have to say broshep, just because he gets Miranda and Jack; if he didn't have them, then femshep would have been the winner. I love how femshep gets Garrus and the rekindling with Kaidan, but Jack and Miranda are my top characters in terms of character development (Tali is way up there, too), and only a broshep can make that happen; If you romance Miranda and Jack, you get the more human side of them which adds to the already great characterization. I loved making Jack into a more sympathetic person with my broshep and making Miranda seem less like a picture of perfection. In terms of sheer quantity, broshep gets more romances (even Kaidan) but femshep gets Traynor and Garrus. I am, however, a little bias considering that I am male, but you can either take it or leave it. Personally, my best experience was with Kaidan just because of his personality (and looks ;D) and he's someone that I would want in my own life.

FemShep wins in my books simply by the fact that she is the only one that can romance Garrus. Image IPB A romance that has one of the best arcs in the whole damn series. Friends to lovers is so awesome and something that I have never seen in any Bioware game. But maybe I'm biased, I only play femshep and Garrus is my favorite character.

But I will say that I'm glad Bioware didn't cure Thane, and that with Citadel DLC his romance is my second favorite in the whole series.

Now if I could just find a way to really romance James...

Male Shepard, for sure. He's got Miranda. No one else is important in comparison.

Male Shep gets the most options, so that would be my pick. With more options there is a less of a chance of the player saying, "I don't like any of these options."
