I am embarking on a new project that involves a large infamous dungeon and its environs. I am currently working on the surrounding area which includes a coastal roadway, forest, swamp and hills type terrains. The random encounters in each of these areas is different consistent with the environment. I also have slight variations with regard to night encounters as opposed to day encounters. I used a random monsters technique I found posted in the vault which allows me to create random percentage chances for each encounter. What I need to create is a modified script that runs off a trigger which checks for night or day. My existing triggers may not be the best way to implement this change. Any suggestions are welcome.

I also want to develop a standard method for determining the level of the party (could be anything from 1st level to 15th level) in order to adjust some of the encounters. I would supoose you could just determine the level of the party leader, but if some one has already done something similar I would be grateful to find out about it.

THanks in advance for any help or ideas.

SoZ has a function in 'ginc_overland' that gets the average character level of a PC Party.

int GetPartyChallengeRating();

And i think these use the settings in module Properties:
int GetIsDay();
int GetIsNight();
int GetIsDawn();
int GetIsDusk();

in "triggers", there is an encounter trigger i think there is one setting that adjusts per level of the enterer

might speed up things

it may not be so specific as i suggest as i do not have the toolset in front of me atm.

int GetTimeHour() will return the current hour, which gives you all the control you need over determining day/night encounters.
