Why is that a worry? Personally I think it's incredibly unlikely but it would raise very interesting questions if they were similar.David7204 wrote...
I'm much more worried about the possibility of aliens being similar to us than us aliens being different. I'm worried that being similar might be a lot more likely.
The relationship of an Asari with a woman is more acceptable? [+ Discussion] [- Tali]

Frankly I find the "Asari mate with anything" to be a bit repulsive. Liara herself is a little more than creepy.

Tali is my Shepard's LI in all my play-throughs. I like her personality and I tend to look at her as a person rather than an alien. There is more to that than just making babies.
Even if Tali was, let's say, this?

Seriously? Humans with funny ears are totally hot, but humans with blue body paint and a funny hat are totally repulsive? I am seriously not seeing the big difference from a meta POV, never mind the fact that "everyone likes the Asari" is canon)
Well, my Shepard isn't everyone. He isn't attracted to the Asari at all.
Why do people make such a big deal out of me not finding aliens physically attractive?
I have no problem with it.
My initial inquiry was only because of the extreme phrase/term you used..."utterly repulsive"...which seemed a bit drastic for an outlook to have on Asari and Quarians in general...but I think you cleared up what you actually meant by that.

Because you happen to have picked one of the least alien designs I can think of - they have human bodies, human face and were designed to be attractive to the (human) player according to The Art of Mass Effect; they are a textbook example of the green skinned space babe:Why do people make such a big deal out of me not finding aliens physically attractive?
An exotic yet attractive female alien, tending to look exactly like an attractive female human except for odd coloring and a couple minor features added.
You are of course entitled to your opinion but it's not very consistent to find the asari repulsive if you are fine with elves.
Well, they fall completely flat for me not matter what. I don't care if they were designed to be attractive, they aren't attractive at all. Nevermind the fact the alien green skinned space babe was never attractive to me to begin with. The head crests and blue skin make me think of them as damn Calamari. It'd be like kissing a damn squid. The thought of it disgusts me.
If she's not human, I won't be attracted to her.
As for an elf, it's a completely unrelated issue. For that matter, aren't they created to be the same in image? The God of LotR made them to be similar and compatible. Slighty longer and somewhat pointy ears (along with eternal youth and beauty) kind of breaks that cycle. They're basically an immortal form of humans. There is no inconsistency at all.

Well you could always see enough through her mask to know she looks pretty human and not something like in those pics.Argolas wrote...
Well obviously Tali isn't ugly. And it's a good thing she isn't. I just think that all people who are saying "it doesn't matter how she looks like" quietly assume that she looks like a girl one can find beautiful. And that's a reasonable expectation.

So tell me, what would you have done if Liara was human and Miranda was an asari? It could have been done with only fairly minor changes.

Because that would be lame. We don't want to meet a culture exactly like ours. Where's the fun in that? No, we want super sexy asari or turians or something like that. More...noble, than us, perhaps you could say.
I think it would be bloody awesome to meet another civilization period. It's not about fun or excitement, it's more about science and universal understanding.

Yeah...she had a human-like face behind her mask in ME1.
In ME2...you get a clear view of her face profile during her loyalty mission.
I always wondered why people were so shocked that she was human looking in ME3.

You're quite right with that actually. The creator in LOTR lore, Ilúvatar, created both elves and humans as his "children", so they are basically brethren. However, my point was the appearance. Humans are attractive, the question is how much you can change without them looking too alien. You have stricter preferences than others, and that's totally fine.

Why is it I never see people being negative about romancing Garrus or Thane? A bird and a reptile respectively. At least Asari and Quarians are the same class of species.
Because I'm also a straight male. They're off the table no matter which way I look at it, so it's kinda done.
