I just finished NWN2 and have installed Mask of the Betrayer. In game, I can't rest, enemies don't attack and NPCs don't do anything even when they're clearly supposed to speak. When I try to run the updater, it fails with the message:

Couldn't run utils\\nwn2stub.exe
The patch has been aborted

When I try to launch nwn2stub.exe from the \\utils folder, I get the error message:

"The version of this file is not compatible with the version of Windows you are running. Check your computer's system information to see whether you need an x86 (32-bit) or x64 (64-bit) version of the program, and then contact the software publisher."

I've tried running both the updater and nwn2stub.exe in various compatibility modes and as an administrator but to no avail. Please help.

I'm running Win7 64-bit on an ASUS G53SX

Uninstalled and reinstalled NWN2 and MotB.
