I'd suggest waiting till a later level.  I usually do Redcliffe almost last in the line of quests.  Also if you don't want the Bartender to die, then don't have him fight.

Otherwise just focus on healing the people you want to live.  Most likely you'd have to control the healer. for the majority of the fight.

I was wondering how many do Redcliffe first guess I just got the asnwer sort of.Posted Image

I've always done Redcliffe first until this playthrough, since that's what Alistair suggests. This time I'm doing it last. I expect it to be much easier to keep the villagers alive. ;)

I hope the TC isn't still having problems after over a month! ;) I only responded b/c someone necro'd the thread and referred to something I said--incorrectly--in a previous post!

I tried this multiple times my first play through and wanted to get the Helm of the Red. After countless Lloyd deaths I worked out a great strat.

First part near the oil your best CC spell will do fine to get things going right. My best at the time was Blizzard and I never had trouble.

Second part is a lot more trouble because you have 2 yellows to worry about and Lloyds weak ass getting killed before I even got over there most times. Crushing Prison one of the yellows then sick whatever companion on the other. CC spells work well on the left bridge. I found the only way to keep NPC's alive (I'm on console so I cant heal NPC's >.<) was to pop Shale in the middle of the group of my NPC's and pop Stone Aura. Hope it helps.

belevie me if you do redcliff last, it would be peace of cake for you ;)
P.S. for myself i always going first to mage tower (to get wayne <- she is better healer when morigan)and its easy enough to do this quest. then going to elfs easy enough too (hardest is to get jurgenout set) then going to dwarfs, then to heaven for ashes and only then to redcliff :)

I just completed Redcliffe battle around lvl 15 or 16.  I did it on nightmare and my team drove through it like a freight train.  I got the Helm at the end too.  We were dropping the undead so fast I went searching for them.

The bartender didn't fight.  I usually kill him before so I can get the free supplies.  But I had Dwyne and Berwick in the fight.  I told the knights about the oil and gave them the amulets from the chantry and of course the blacksmith helped out.

It was the easiest fight I ever did there.

Team:

PC DW Rogue
Allistar
Ohgren
Dog

No mages and I never had to heal.

- But, I did have myslef, Ohgren, and Allistar setup with cold iron runes.  I used the Grandmaster at +10, Ohgren had 2 novice totaling +4, and Allistar I think had 1 novice for +2.

Plus I already had the ashes so the redcliffe castle went quick.  I released Jowan and killed the mages so I had the mother kill her son.  I still got an extra point for a skill from Eamon and the shield gift.

My only dissapointment was not killing the Doomsayer.  I skipped through the dialouge too quick and I missed the option.  I just saw it too late and didn't have a soon enough save to worry about it.

to get free supplys you dont need to kill loyd ;) just send him to fight, but before it talk to girl (dont remember name)

to save mother and son you need to save first enchanter, to have mages available.

The oil can be found in the warehouse .. it'll trigger the option to tell that to the guy at the mill..

Problem is the Knights sometimes go reaver on you and decide they don't care if they get burnt to a crisp.

dont let them go then ;) make your stance like: you-fire-knights (use taunt, scout) or make your stance like: fire-you-knights (use taunt, scout) so if all go good none of scelets will go to knights all will be killed by your party ;) if you have mage in your party you may use mass hitting spells too, and/or if you have greas spell (or whatever its called)

I always do mage tower fist. Get Wynne. I never have a problem saving everyone. I usually play with two mages and one damage rogue and a tank. Well aimed cone of colds, area stuns, a well placed glyph of repulsion and heals make it easy.

But I do play with super micro management, not everyone likes to play that way.

I found that having wynne heal npc helps save the villagers. But she wont automaticly do that so you will have to tab constantly and watch the villagers health. Another thing about the skellies is that they are kind of predictable and where they are coming from, so if you run interference and place you group in front of them you can pick them off before they get to the villagers. I personally let the villagers die because you get a bow and complete set of leather armor off each village that dies. Thats good money at the begining of the game.

wynne has cleanset aura which heals all surrounding ally even villagers. then i first started to play i useded two mages (morigan as dps and wynne as healer) and in last two my overplays i used only wynne as healer, alistar as full shield, me as dps and leliana/or sten as supporter. and i would say it was better then to use two mages. of course its only my opinion. as for gold you dont need such amounts in start of play.

Since you got Morrigan, she should cast heal consistently on the villagers with low health. You should spend your time taking out the two yellows simulateanously (dirty fighting, shield bash) with Alistair and Leilaina. Use potions for yourself and team, and your rogue can spend the rest of the fight babysitting Lloyd. Use abilities to neutralize your foes (shattering shot for Leilana, Shield bash for Alistair, and dirty fighting, riposte for yourself.)

You should know that nameless villagers dying doesn't count against you when trying to get the "Everyone Survived" scene. Only the named villagers like Murdock do.

True, I still like to save everyone just for the challenge.
