Hey everyone,

I sure am glad to be writing you about actualy playing the game, not the all famous "when i find the time to play ... ".

My party:

Berserker/Mage - will dual at 13
Minsc
Jaheira
Aerie
Haerdalis
Imoen

I am playing on Insane with SCS2, i think i installed most challenges and basicly set most of it to the hardest possible setting. Here is what i installed:

Allright, soo what i did soo far ?

- Irenicus dungeon wasn't very hard.
- Slaver quest - quite hard to be honest
- Murders in bridge district - quite hard, had to come back after i gained a level or two, then it was easy
- quests for the church - very easy
- jaheira quest - soo far killed baron ployer and the bandits. Bandits are easy, ployer fight was very hard since i wanted to kill the mages aswell, had to come back after i gained a level or two ...
- Valeria goons - the mage was a pain at first ...
- Animal troubles - pretty straight forward, some hasted fire elementals, silenced spirit trolls .. i killed feldorn with jaheira, it is very easy if you open the fight with conjure animals. Those 2 bears are just awesome, mad attack speed ...
- i killed those goons under temple district and as always, it was a huge pain ... it took me many tries. A couple of times only the mage remained with all my chars around him with almost full health and he managed to kill one of my characters which usualy led to a reload.
- Find Evidence Against Mae'Var - pretty easy. Fighting that Cowled Wizard was hard but really fun. Killing maevar was very easy. You can tell that i used to fight him with Tactics mod before ... there he was quite hard to kill.
- i also did Korgans quest for the book, circus and some other minor quests.

I tried doing Nalias quest but Tor'gal and his goons humiliated me. I tried planar prison but the only way i could win the last fight was using wand of cloudkill, which a) killed allies too ... that friendly gnome always walked into it and B) it was a bit chesy since most enemies were offscreen and sometimes they just didnt respond to damage and just stood there with no protection. And cheating is not my idea of fun.
I also tried killing those 3 rakshasa but they killed me very fast.

Right now i am actualy just walking up and down .... i guess i am waiting for Jaheiras romance to continue soo i can get some experience. I am thinking of going to Umar hills to do some side quests there. Will there be any trouble if i ignore the main quest for a while ? Or will something bad happen like failed quest if i do it later on ?

What about planar sphere ? There is lots of experience and items, how hard is it ? Harder then mentioned fights that are causing me problems (torgal fight with 4 spirit trolls, torgal, adult umber hulk, 2 or 3 giant trolls and 3 yuanti mages), planar prison last fight, those 3 rakshasas in druid groove ....maybe i should do some NPC quests since i have only 5 ppl in party atm ... but all of them seem to take a long time and are time based, nothing as quick as Korgans go there, pick that, kill that and you are done ...

ps: i am having tons of fun with the game soo far, playing fair and square combined with SCS2 on insane really provides a challenge.

This battle was soo intense that i am still shaking ! It would actualy be pretty easy if i had maybe 1 or 2 more levels ....
As you see near the end everyone died exept main character and jaheira, if she would die i would reload since i dont wanna risk my romance, just incase her death would cause it to bug out. I used wand of cloud kill 2 times, though yuan-ti mages are just too good at avoiding it. I used sunfire 1 or 2 times, even though it was hard not to kill my own ppl. I summoned 2 fire elementals (1 was 12HD, one was 16HD) and 3 nymphs, the later ones were completely useless in this fight ... it would be sweet if i could add 2 aerial servants to this bunch .... just to tank the trolls long enough for me to clean yuan-tis, i think it would take like 3 sunfires. With Spirit trolls silenced (nemarra +2) the battle would be pretty easy. Damn !

ps: i forgot to tell that in the end only 1 yuan-ti remained alive, he was injured and most of his protections ran out, only stoneskin remained. And i attacked him with jaheira and protagonist, both ranged weapons since acid arrows get through. Well he kept hiting jaheira with damage spells, almost killed me a couple of times and i was amazed why doesnt his spell casting get disturbed and why i dont damage him with hasted 4 atack per round, good thaco protagonist. Turn out my acid arrows were long gone and even the dead minsc had only 4 left in the stash. My heart was prolly around 190 at the time ...

Also, i am cheap. I have 67000 gold at the moment and i am sure there are many items that would make this fight a lot easier. Yet i continue to save. :)))
Belive it or not but probably the single item right now that makes the most difference is wand of summoning. Sure, the creatures summoned are useless but they give you a few precious seconds you need to organise. I am going to buy it right away !

I want to recruit Cernd just to do his quick quest but i have a problem. I go to deril, threathen him, he gives me the child. But then 3 days later he doesnt appear with the lich. Anyone knows what to do soo he will appear ?
Also, is there any easy way to check if jaheira romance is broken ? I remember she spoke to me when i was still doing Nalias quest, i reloaded a while after that and then she didnt speak to me. And it has been quite some play time since then, probably 1 hour ...

Try to look with ShadowKeeper GlobalVariable: JAHEIRAROMANCEACTIVE. If 1 or 2 = it's OK. If 3 - romance has ended.

edit: or you can use console:

CharacterActiveRomance

This is major romance variable. It shows the current romance state and you should always check it if things seem to be going wrong. It can be accessed with the following commands (i.e. for Aerie):

CLUAConsole:GetGlobal("AerieRomanceActive","GLOBAL")– to find out what value it has.

CLUAConsole:SetGlobal("AerieRomanceActive","GLOBAL",XX)–to manually set the value.

Change the variable name to Jaheira, Viconia or Anomen for their values.

Possible values of this variable (XX) are:
0 –romance was never started,
1 – romance is progressing,
2 – romance lives, NPC is finally in love with you,
3 – romance is dead for good.

Thank you, romance is still active (1). Like i said, the last time jaheira spoke to me about the ill wind and storm coming, that is the chat right before dermin should come. But i reloaded and since then she hasnt spoke to me. I tried resting for like 10 days and i left my character outside dearnise for about an hour but nothing happens. I tried finding lovetalk with shadowkeeper but i couldnt find it in affects or in globals. It would be great if i could do this without editing the game. Any tips ?

Finaly the 3 i really hate, fell. I have to say that i try to always play fair, meaning i never ever attack my enemy before his defences are up. With this 3 it takes about 5 seconds before they kick in. I do start to cast true seeing right away though and then its followed by breach. But the real winners are those 12HD fire elementals. 1 of them was keeping those 2 busy until i dealt with the lower one ... they both survived. Like i said, if only i had an aerial servant or two to add to the bunch ..

Now its time to go to Umar hills, do some little side quests and then take valygar to planar sphere. This will no doubt be a hard one, but i think i am ready. The only thing i want to know is ... will this interfiere with Jaheiras romance and fighter stronghold in any way ? I installed the option to do both mage and fighter stronghold and i think i should be out of the sphere in about a week, i dont think the hell will freeze over in that time...

I use SCS2 v21. Enemies keep wondering around Planar prison and from time to time, they step on a trap near haerdalis and his gang, and they die (petrify).

Never heard about enemies hitting *ingame* (not being set by player) traps before so sadly can't comment here...

Could general biffing do something ? Btw i found the lines in script that cause it, if i remove it the wandering stops.

I have generalized biffing installed myself (and SCS2 - WeiDU is below) and never had such problems. The very fact that enemies trip the ingame traps is what confusing me... Usually they walk over them freely... May be this is some kind of scripted event.:huh: You could try to eliminate enemies there before they walk near Raelis - this is the only solution I can think of...

I addded !AreaType(DUNGEON) and the wandering stopped. It would seem that some timer makes them walk around, which i understand, what i dont understand is why, because i just came to the area ...

This Astral prison is one of the more frustrating battles i have ever fought. Actualy those yuan-tis are a huge pain in the ass. You can offcourse use breach on them and they die in seconds but you need to use breach 3 times for 3 yuan-tis and try to survive their 100 spells and other yuantis and warden and such. You can try killing them with damage spells of level 4 and up, but that takes a lot of time, even 3 sunfires from aerie wont kill them, had to add some cloudkills from wand. Till now i kinda thought cloudkills to be cheesy but since i didnt use them offscreen but targeted aerie which has imunity to evocation, i guess its ok. I dont really care because i hate yuantis and i was close to ctrl-y. Yep, tought fight it was. I killed everyone a couple of times, only left 1 yuanti and he pwned me somehow, and like i am close to killing him and he gets like 2 magic resistances in a row. Pheeewww ! i sure am glad astral prison is over !
ps: at my level the only chance is to prevent warden from casting fallen planetar or glabezu, else the fight is as good as over.

The area walk around (setting off traps) thing looks like a buggy script... please post your Weidu log?

p.s. A single 'Death Fog' is normally all I need against the Warden but I play on core rules.

I started the unseeing eye quest since thats the only one i can do now ( i got umar and wind hills but since there are dragons i will leave it for the last), rune and kangaxx is for after underdark, guarded compound is the last before i go to underdark ... and everything else i already completed.

Beholders are hard but its doable, for instance i used greated mallison and greater command and 3 beholders and 2 gauths fell asleep. That lich in ghoul town will be a problem since i am level 10-12 party soo i was wondering ... after i complete this quest, will i be able to enter that area again ? Soo go under and into ghoul town ? Its importaint to note that i am NOT a priest, soo i will not be getting this area as stronghold. It will be hard to kill the lich ..

I've finished the Unseeing Eye quest (SCS2 without Tactical Challenges installed) with Blade(14) protagonist, Mage(11)/Thief(12), Archer(11), Fighter(9)/Cleric(10), Mage(12) and there were not any lich in ghoul's town. I think he appears there with higher levels (not 10-12). And yes, that area is accessible after the quest is over

Besides any undead (and Lich) is a pushover under Prot vs Undead scroll...

Whoops is what comes to mind. Ok soo if i dont ever enter the ghoul city and come back after the quest is done, i can still fight this lich ? I will try to beat him though, i have tons of summons available, soo if i can somehow get him to waste some of the spells on them, this would be wonderfull.

Well, he handed me my ass on a hot plate. I will have to come back later, and if he wont be here, i will summon him and his hang through the console - i never forgive, never forget.

Could someone tell me more about beholders ? They fell to greater mallison and greater command, but i am not sure how their rays work. How many rays can each send per round and are they just like normal spells (fear, wound, etc.) ?

I finished the unseeing eye quest, it was pretty easy i must say. Not many beholders in the hive...
Sadly i have now completed all available quests beside those hard ones. My next step is either umar or wind hills, meaning a dragon. Usualy the shadow dragon is easier but there are a few things to consider. First of all, wind hills have a lich which is well, quite hard to kill. Second of all, SCS2 upgraded the last fight with shade lord and i heard it is pretty hard. And the last thing ... red dragons breath is very easy to protect from, items, spells and such, all offer protection from fire. Shadow dragons breathe as far as i heard is instant death and i have no items to protect me from level drain right now. Soo i am kind of thinking about going for the wind hills first, killing red dragon ... what do you think ? The highest level is haerdalis, he just hit level 14. Other then that, aerie and jaheira can both cast level 6 cleric spells, aerie can cast level 6 mage spells, haerdalis and my main can cast level 5. Soo i can deal with magic resistance .... still dragons are hard to kill .. soo ... black dragon or red dragon ?
