No, he just inflict his horribly traumatized extremist-turned templar on an entirely different group of mages.

He's a better personnel fit for Meredith? Yeah, they need to work on that health plan ... :?

Ah, Cullen.  How I hope to see you as a companion in DA:I with a much more comprehensible personality and backstory.

We might be getting Cullen, but I don't think we're getting sanity.

Could they write Cullen so that he ends up so broken after whatever comes next that he eventually is in a situation like Tali, post quarian eradication by geth?

Well, of course not.  Between Orlais' civil war and the shattered Chantry and the mage/templar conflict, and possibly qunari invasions--with some kind of trouble in the Grey Wardens, and Tevinter possibly taking advantage of a distracted Thedas, Flemeth and Morrigan being up to Gods know what, and Prince Vael planning an Exalted March on Kirkwall, the whole world has, quite literally, gone to hell.  It'll be our character's job to restore sanity on a worldwide level.

I had high hopes for Cullen.  His entire character arc is totally believable, but it was poorly handled in DA2, especially his rather sudden attack of the moderates toward the end.  I'd like to see him as a companion in the next game if only because we'd be more likely to get a much more fleshed-out personality from him that way.

Edited to fix goofy spelling errors.  Getting a manicure makes it rather difficult to type, it seems.

I would hope he didn't end up that broken, but on the other hand it'd be nice to have a storyline that branches so significantly depending on choices that companions are highly affected: depending on whether Cullen sides with the Chantry or the rogue Templars, he either finds peace, or ends up a gibbering lunatic.

Off-topic, I have the strangest urge to chase you and throw kiwis at you.

As for Cullen, I don't think Peace/Slobbering Drunk would work because we've already seen that kinda with Alistair.

But Alistair didn't lose it so bad that he killed himself like Tali did(well, potentially. Like hell I was gonna let that happen), so...

Yeah, I re-thought that.  I could see him being broken psychologically without becoming a drunk, though.  Especially given his lyrium addiction.

One up for regular magic- It has an anti-kiwi spell. Blood Magic can't do that.

Perhaps instead Cullen could lose it so bad he becomes catatonic?

Just, unresponsive. And you can actually talk to him in one last heartfelt or furious conversation, trying to wake him up.

Imagine if he was your romance option.

And he never responds back...

*ducks the incoming kiwis*

I mean Cullen was still going to be bat**** nuts.

I dont' think Cullen became more moderate. He was always less of a nutbag than Meredith, but this is only by less crazy by comparison.

I accused you of throwing kiwis at me. You also slapped me. :crying:

Christ there needs to be kiwis in DA3. Involving magic somehow. Kiwis are acidic.

A Kiwi acid spell.

I wonder if mages and templars differ on their views of kiwis.

Yes me, I think thats a great idea. Lets have Cullen possibly become catatonic if things go so crazily awry in his life.

*thumbs up*

I imagine that mages think that kiwis are safely consumed in moderation as part of a balanced fruit diet, but that templars believe all kiwi trees must be cut down and all the fruit gathered and destroyed.

Oh now thats just being biased towards mages. Templars aren't like that.

That would actually be interesting..and have it be part of our quest to find out just what happened and to "fix" him.  It would need to be something that happened after DA2, so we're not re-visiting territory we saw in Origins and heard referred to in DA2.

Edit- KiwiQuiche isn't my mom. That would be someone else on this forum. Thank you for contributing to the feint KQ!

NOW THEN, ORIGINAL POST-

Actually I was thinking that he'd be fine at the start of the game, and his catatonia would begin towards end game. Like, some event in DA3 just sends him over the deep end, and he's just gone.

FemInquisitor-"Cullen, please! Speak to me! SAY SOMETHING, ANYTHING!"

*FemInquisitor looks into his eyes, and nothing*

FemInquisitor needs to be pulled away screaming and crying by squadmates

Pheeew, thats deep

Would make things interesting as well should the Inquisitor be a mage thats romancing him, should that even be possible.

No one better be wasting watermelons in here! The instant mages are brought up and we are hurling large, head-sized fruit at each other!
