No, he just inflict his horribly traumatized extremist-turned templar on an entirely different group of mages.
He's a better personnel fit for Meredith? Yeah, they need to work on that health plan ...

Ah, Cullen. How I hope to see you as a companion in DA:I with a much more comprehensible personality and backstory.
We might be getting Cullen, but I don't think we're getting sanity.
Well, of course not. Between Orlais' civil war and the shattered Chantry and the mage/templar conflict, and possibly qunari invasions--with some kind of trouble in the Grey Wardens, and Tevinter possibly taking advantage of a distracted Thedas, Flemeth and Morrigan being up to Gods know what, and Prince Vael planning an Exalted March on Kirkwall, the whole world has, quite literally, gone to hell. It'll be our character's job to
restore sanity on a worldwide level.
I had high hopes for Cullen. His entire character arc is totally believable, but it was poorly handled in DA2, especially his rather sudden attack of the moderates toward the end. I'd like to see him as a companion in the next game if only because we'd be more likely to get a much more fleshed-out personality from him that way.
Edited to fix goofy spelling errors. Getting a manicure makes it rather difficult to type, it seems.
