If this game's combat was "realistic", how screwed would Shepard be?

This.

Shame that our enemies are never using the funny stuff like... I don't know...

Stasis, Pull, Lash or Singularity! It would be so funny.... for them, not for Shepard of course.

* Merc guy uses Overload*

Shepard: SHIELD DOWN!!!

* Another merc guy uses Pull'

Shepard: Ffff...

* Gravatiy kicks in again.*

CRITICAL MISSION FAIL!

This would've made the clone fight in the Citadel DLC pretty entertaining. If she had the matching abilities of my Shepard, it would've been a hell of a fight.

With the science that is out there, if a fictitious group of interstellar travellers (the Reapers) weren't themselves bound to life on planets, I would think the easiest way for them to exterminate the sentient organic life that is, would be to tow massive asteroids into all their planets and call it a day.

Interesting defense of the catalyst probably preserving life.

The OP asks a question that cannot be answered truthfully, as the 'shock' of it cannot be transferred with words only deeds.

So in essence...bummer man.

Realistic without the constraints of it being a game? Without enemy biotics and techs being toned down to make it easy?

Shep wouldn't make it too far. considering all kind of **** he/she gets into.

Realistic would be most probably dead the first time Shepard was really outnumbered, so Eden Prime in ME1.

Biotic attacks in ME were actually more like player biotic attacks than their ME2 and ME3 variants (which amount to taking damage and some additional damage over time when hit). But, the incapacitation was so ridiculous, even with a high physics threshold stat from armor, that Bioware knew repeating it in sequels would probably be a bad idea.

Jenkins is the most realistic squadmate of the series it seems.

Yep and especially with how Shepard displays zero tactical skill beyond "show up here and start shooting".

I'm curious what you would cite as an example of 'tactical skill' in fiction as a comparison.
