This month's challenge is "Dragon Stuff":

All things dragon related. Alternate dragon (or dragon-related) creature models (there are a ton of different ones from different regions that are not well-represented in NWN), dragon-themed clothing/armor, dragon-themed weapons, dragon-themed miscellaneous items, dragon-related placeables, dragon-affecting spells, short prefabbed cutscenes involving dragons, dragon-themed visual effects, dragon sounds (also good for dinosaurs), prefabbed dragon NPCs (with interesting descriptions, conversations, etc.), prefabbed dragon-related items (with nice descriptions and history to go with any properties).

This theme was suggested by The Amethyst Dragon.

Guidelines:
  • It must be fully working in game.
  • Use of vanilla NWN or publicly available texture is fine, though state-of-the-art amateur's work would require 100% original work, but that's up to you.
  • Teamwork is welcome.
  • Beginners most welcome, don't be afraid, just try, you'll be surprised!
  • All submissions must be finished, working, and emailed to NWNCCCMakers@gmail.com (or a non-Vault link provided) by June 1st, 2013 at 10 AM EST. Sooner than that is perfectly fine too. ;-)

Somethings you could include in the download/email that would make packaging everything up easier and faster:
  • 2da lines needed.
  • Screenshot *from in game* for use on the vault page (this also gives me hints on how to display the new goodie).
  • Portraits (if needed) of your new goodie. ** Placeables and monsters should include a portrait. **
  • Inventory icons (if needed) of your new goodie.
  • Any credits you would like listed.
  • If this is your first entry, please tell me what name you would like your work listed under and provide a link to your other NWN content if you want that displayed as well (the link bit is totally optional).
  • Also if you would like an invite to the CC Makers group, send Rolo Kipp a friend invite. The group is nothing spectacular, mostly just documentation on 2da lines.
  • If you are doing tileset content, *please* let me know ahead of time so I can get you the set and itp files to work with. I’m horrible at merging those so this bit you will need to provide.
Remember, the Challenge is all about fun, sharing, creativity and surprise!

If you have concerns/questions about this month’s Challenge please post in this thread.

If you want to discuss the Monthly Custom Content Challenge idea as a whole or wish to submit ideas/themes for future monthly Challenges, please post in its thread here.
***When submitting a new theme, please provide a title and short summary of the theme.***

If you have a technical question about some custom content creation, please create a separate thread so that the answers can be found later by anyone, not just people interested in this Challenge. We'll try to help!

Have no fear and join the fun!

And finally, you can:

Submit theme suggestions.
Vote for June's theme.

<stockpiling gems...>

A very large (10K poly), skin-mesh oriental dragon is exactly what the dwarf's going to attempt. Point, though. These will be Eastern dragons interpreted for Amethyst. That is, except for the Silvers who are vain enough, none of the metallics have wings. They cloudwalk. They do not fly.

If you examine the original concept drawings for the metallics from WotC, you'll notice huge wing-like spine membranes, but not true wings. Well, even that offends Amethyst.

Of course, we will bend no one's arm into using our wingless wonders :-)

Note: In 1999 I declared that no player in Amethyst would ever face a dragon run by a computer. Dragon's in Amethyst are the most perfect bioweapons produced by the Ancients and they are *intelligent*. Only DM's and 1st Circle players in Amethyst will be able to play dragons. But first, I've got to pimp their ride ;-)

I'd be leaning away from something like that.  The smell has got to be horrific.

Axe is rebranded as Lynx in the UK. Anyway here is a picture of the type of dragon I was talking about earlier.

It's actually the texture for a rug I never got around to making.

Dragon Poo. It's just like regular poo except for the scraps of armor and the occasional gold coin.

Hmmm...

If anyone has no idea what to do, I've got an unskinned Linnorm modified from the Mist Dragon lying around somewhere that I wouldn't mind someone who can texture taking a stab at

Me though? I have plans. Zmeyish plans. Hopefully I will actually get a chance to make something this time

Zombie dragon it is for me. Its going to be a decaying green dragon as I feel this will give the best contrast for the exposed bone and gore.

I've heard of dumpster diving, but that takes it to a whole new level of dedication.

Why not?  It's dragon-related.  And funny.

If you are looking for a base texture, I've got one that I use for several "sewer decor" placeables in my PW.

Yeah I'm with AD on this URK. DO EET MAN! Heck we already got a dog peeing courtesy of OTR, why not a placeable that'll make that dragon's lair really smell out.

Yes they were (are still) awesome. I was planning on doing these as skins at some point in the near future. Maybe, if nobody else (Shemsu?) is doing them, I can work on them a bit while I do some other stuff :) They sure beat the crap out of 4e dragonborn.

You'd think dragons would care enough to leave that stuff outside the lair...

@MerricksDad:
I don't have decided yet, what could be my contribution, for this challenge, ID2 Half-Dragons could be a possibility, However because i don't know too much about animation and the use of skins; Probably you could do it better. So If ID2 half dragons are an atractive proyect for you, please do it....

@Shemsu-Heru,

For me, its a really simple project until you start adding animations. I don't personally know if I would have done any animation changes, except merging on some player wings to the base model. I would probably also go with an entirely new tail animation too. They have a little more bounce to them than a human does, but otherwise, they're basically human animations with some 3-part leg movement. If I did them, I would just use the human base anims and maybe add a new custom spin attack, or maybe to replace the whirlwind/circle kick animation. I'm getting better at that kind of stuff.

Still I am undecided if I can even take that on. I have my hands wrapped around some hobgoblins at the moment, and would love to flesh them out very nicely before taking on another skin project.

If you think you would like to do this, or maybe work together on them, let me know. I may be totally up to that. If you have a specific appearance you want to do, I could do the anims later. And crap, if it takes too long, I bet we could get it added before this package's release anyway, especially if it was just to cool not to add late.

Edit: Besides that I think your textures on your content are better than mine anyway!

LOL. I really ws just kidding. I have zero modeling skills, but if anyone really wants to run with it, please... be my guest.

Oh... and make at least one model with a little tiara sticking out of it. Quest FAIL!

For the record though, you can use existing assets to make pretty good monster poo. I had an ancient giant lizard in a mod living under the rel mord sewers. CEP has a bunch of lumps and bumps that make good "piles". Scattered around on wall edges and in corners they look great. Make the item usable, call it "dried dung" or something, activate the inventory, and throw in an OnUsed script that creates a puff of smoke and makes the searcher save vs. disease. You can add a sound too, if you want, but I found the normal "sack opening" sound was actually remarkabley appropriate.

Voila. Throw down a few treasures and watch the fun. A little extra area fog and some hints of green in the lighting can add to the ambiance.

The players were actually ****ing about how disgusting it was!

In "Get Ducky!" I apply a brown aura and a -3 CHA adjustment :-)
Could add a cloud of flies...

Heh. And now back to our regularly scheduled dragons :-)

Very early WIP...

I've applied the alpha to the green dragon's wing texture to make the wing look tattered. The main section of the body has been cut in half and mesh applied to the inner portion. This will later be separated and textured as gore. The cavity created will be filled with a tangled mess of intestines then more gore - in the form of tears applied to the body. The final step will be tearing the head open so that portions of the skull are revealed.

I've dulled the texture some but am not sure if I should tint it slightly more towards the blue/grey side....

I've got some of the gore laid in around the stomach and the intestinal "pouch" in place. I've also partially converted the tail to vertebrae and tinted the remaining skin on the bone wing green to match the other wing. The "sail" along the neck has also been shredded.

I'm not too familiar with flex mesh so anyone got any pointers for when I add the chunks of intestine that'll be hanging loosely from the belly?
