Playing SP for 2nd time on Insanity for the achievement. Can I use same build?

At what point in this New Game do I have to switch it from Normal to Insanity to get that achievement? Since I completed SP in March of 2012 on Normal difficulty, I want to use that build to complete SP now on Insanity to get the achievement.
I haven't installed any of the SP DLC yet, so it should go quickly.
(If it helps, before I fired a weapon I changed it to Insanity)
Thank you in advance.

If you're doing SP just for the achievement, then you can skip all the side missions imo. It'll be messy and sad storywise, but you'll still get the best ending.

If you don't care, just do all the main line missions, don't talk to anyone, etc.freemyheart wrote...
Yeah, I'd rather go for the achievement quickly, then buy all the SP DLC and play through again as a new character.
As my sig used to say:
Ah yes, "the best ending." We have dismissed that claim.

Or the conventional victory ending you unlock by finding all the magnesium and potassium in ME1.known_hero wrote...

(and yeah I've tried various tricks like switching from SP to MP and back and similar, but despite fixing other broken achievements, those two are still broken).

Not that achievements matter to me at this point, but if you do the achievement and it doesn't show up for whatever reason, I'm just saying that I wouldn't worry too much about it. Origin is a very broken platform.

Tried starting up ME1 again to beat it on hardcore, but that game is so damn tedious I gave up after about an hour. Re-started ME2 as a level 1 character (have never played through SP on any of the 3 games as an Adept) and will see if I can beat the game on Insanity.
Playing ME3 multiplayer to death over the last year+ taught me how to play Mass Effect better.

If you've never played ME2 on Insanity, I wouldn't recommend the Adept for your first attempt. Nearly everything will have one or more protections, which prevent most biotic effects (most importantly, warp explosions). Not saying it can't be done...there are lots of videos and walkthroughs proving that it can. But it's pretty universally regarded as the most difficult class on Insanity in ME2. And ME2 Insanity is harder than ME3, by quite a bit actually.
It is proving to be a good challenge. The more I think about it, the more I worry about freeing David, killing the Shadow Broker, and surviving the final ending. The final boss on recruiting Tali might be a bit difficult as well.
I have recruited everyone but Tali, and need to complete tasks for Samara, the guy in the armory, Garrus, and Thane.
Not looking forward to flying the aircraft on Illium, and I believe there's a terrible objective on a planet with a lot of lava that i had a terrible time when I played it a couple of years on normal difficulty.
Otherwise, it was difficult at the beginning, but now that I have leveled up my warp and singularity, I need to buy some more items from the shops. I think I have around 300,000 creds saved up.
