I've already completed one Platinum solo using the Volus Adept, but I got really lucky with my objectives, and I was playing on Giant. Pizza delivery and hacks are easy, but i'm having trouble with disabling devices, especially if fighting Cerberus. I just can't seem to kite Phantoms and stuff away and then run back and disable them before they get there, or an Atlas will be stuck on the objective and stuff.

Can anyone give me some helpful advice, and if you want to, other assorted device on Solos?

I'm not a platinum soloist by any means, but it seems to me that disable devices are the bane of any solo or any game for that matter, and especially on wave 10 - for any faction. From what I've noticed after hearing about other people's experiences, it's what kills the solo attempt for most, unless somehow you kite it extremely well. Those Atlases are so darn slow and dumb sometimes, but the Phantoms aren't unfortunately. A lot of people seem to keep trying until they get lucky with objectives.

With devices it's sometimes impossible no matter what you do. If there are enemies next to a device try going to other side of the map to lead them away and then run back to do the device. You can rocket but knowing the spawns most of the time they will spawn near the device.

What do you mean by other assorted device?

phantoms are hard to get rid of when youre deactivating devices so just wait until they come to you then you run to the other side of the map (be sure they are following you) wait and run back to the objective and try to hide behind something and good luck, that should give you some time also patience is key for this kind of objective

Dont solo Cerberus. If you get devices well better luck next time.... had many gold and platinum solo's cut short by that stupid objective. Sometimes a device is just in a spot where kiting just doesn't work. I love it when I kite and come back and there's centurions and maruaders camping by the darn thing. Dragoons are worst than phantoms you kill it and start the device another one is there and hits you just right before its done again.

If you're soloing on large maps kiting would be the best choice as others have mentioned. Helped greatly with my gold cerberus solos.

On smaller maps, like glacier kiting would also work, but where you place youself for the diasble also becomes a factor (i.e around corners, behind soft cover etc.). This also becomes a factor against phantoms and such, buying you a second or two as the make the turn or go around the piece of cover.

Not sure about mixed factions on plat as I have never attempted a plat solo :/ so sorry if this info isn't helpful.

^^ This. The top center device on giant (for example) is sometimes impossible. I have missled marauders only to have two more reappear in front of me.
If the devices are on the sides of the map, kite them to the other side. As your kiting when your in the middle of the map (if it looks like a couple of enemies are camping) shoot them a few times and contue kiting. This usually makes them follow.
If your on the other side of the map and the enemies aren't closing in on you, sometimes getting in hard cover will trigger them to move

I was doing plat solos last weekend if you're gonna do Giant, when you get the device objectives. You literally have to hope you don't get any spawns that are either out in the open or near enemy spawns. For escorts, abuse the hell out of hard and soft cover although in the case of the volus abuse soft cover. I did it against reapers but this should apply to all factions. Although with cerb, you're gonna need something to slow down the dragoons cause that's gonna be your main cause of not being able to do objectives since they can knock you out of it but not as easily as brutes can though. Phantoms are easily slowed with stasis if you're using the adept. Just wish it worked on Dragoons if they didn't have armor. <_< Anyway, I hope this helps.

I want advice about a specific objective. Reactor center core hack. On Gold Reapers the Marauders and Cannibals just refuse to leave and camp in the core. I ended up rocketing them and keep them outside.

Plat Geth wave 10 hack. 2 Primes, 2 Banshees Phantoms and Ravagers I believe. Is it even doable?

Hacks are easy if you use the exploit where you can still get the hack objective while outside of the hack circle.

If you're using volus, then the sentinel should help you out there. Dropping decoy/cd will aggro away most enemies, leaving you the opportunity to do the hack. With the adept you should toss a stasis bubble somwhere on your flank to protect against mooks.

Just to be clear, i'm not using a Volus. I'm using whatever I feel like using. I simply said in the OP that i've already solod Platinum once, and it was with a Volus Adept.

My bad, it wasnt made clear to me in the OP.
My point is that many kits have some way of distracting or otherwise escaping from enemies, allowing you ample time to perform a hack

wave 3 cerby devices were OK, twas the wave were there were slow brutes, ravagers and atlases.
wave 6 reaper devices are kind of the same.
wave 6 geth, still have the brutes and ravagers but is harder because of the primes and geth bombers...

wave 3 reapers. fml.

don't kill anything... they will ALWAYS respawn beside the objective. ;___;
(advice I should follow more often...)

Engineers can be really bad for devices as well, you can't kite turrets.

The simple answer is you should be able to kill mooks like that. I've been doing these plat duo "try outs" with people, as some of you PS3ers know, and the mistake I see most often is people become passive and just stop killing enemies once they get into a hack or escort. They try to tank the damage when they could just as easily kill the enemies, especially mooks.

@Op I can't give you advice for an atlas getting stuck near a device, that's just bad luck, but once you've kited the bosses away - led the atlas on a long path out of LoS or stopped a banshee far from the objective - you may also need to kill a few camping units. Phantoms, marauders, etc. The sooner you do that the easier time you'll have with the device.

Sometimes you'll get lucky and phantoms will just sit in cover and let you do the obj, but you need to be able to recognize that behavior. If they aren't camping in cover and are instead charging, the best bet is to lead them away in that mobile state or kill them outright and then go for the device.

Exactly what Smooth said. It takes a bit of patience, a lot of situational awareness and knowing when to kill and not to kill....and a bit of luck >:D

Devices on Giant are almost easy compared to other maps.

Best advice on devices I can give is: rage quit and save yourself rage and time. Try again, you'll be lucky sometimes.
