What is the point of having a smaller jaw inside your jaw?

Edit: I can see the point of having a detatchable jaw (like a Goblin Shark) but why the extra pointless teeth?

Because if it catches you in a full bite, it'll deal a crap load more damage and more serious injuries as it will leave more wounds to bleed you out quicker.

Huh, you know - you are kinda barking up the wrong tree. I never said I wanted Dragon Age to be Skyrim.

Oh, so you posted a picture of a dragon from Skyrim so you could say "but dragon"?  Gee, I wish there were dragons in Dragon Age, oh, wait...

Drakes and High Dragon in Origins.
Drakes, dragons and a High Dragon in DA 2.

Check it out, dragons, and we didn't need to play in the sandbox.

There are limited resources, open world game would inevitably mean worse story depth and shallow companions - which happened in Skyrim, surely you noticed. Given that Skyrim took 3.5 years to develop and DA3 is not even close - this is a recipe to another DA2 disaster quality wise.
If DA3 will be close to richness of DA:O world i will be happy. Cant see how they can pull anything more open with all the time limitations unless it is Kirkwall with giant battlfield multiplayer map near by.

As you can see, Skyrim has really boring dragon designs and their fights are lame; I'm more likely to get killed by a troll than I am a dragon in Skyrim. :| If you are going to have dragons and make them "Ooo big threat!" then make them harder to freakin' kill.

/Taste
I don't think any of your examples are cooler than the Skyrim Dragon.
Especially the one from Dragon's Dogma is extremely plain imo.

Thus far, every open-world RPG has sacrificed cinematic and storytelling fidelity for the sake of being open world. If BioWare can do both, then great. If they can make some sort of hybrid, then great. If not, then they should stick with what's proven to work.

Things like active NPCs aren't a "sandbox" thing. You can keep BioWare's modular design and animate the people of Denerim.

It will be interesting to see how the Witcher 3 handles this. CDPR's game is supposedly open world w/ a detailed rich story.

That's what they say, yes. Unfortunately I have never been able to immerse myself in the witcher series.

That's unfortunate, they are quite good! I'm always up for some good political manuvering and intreague though.

I don't doubt it's good, but the exclusion of character creator always destroys half the sale for me. I still have to get through the Witcher series and Deus Ex: Human Revolution, because I really want to be able to judge them properly. :)

That's a terrible way to make a point when you could have just said "I think Skyrim is cool" instead of saying "it has nothing to do with dragons." Seriously, nobody understood you.

And I want to poke my eyes out every time somebody wishes for Bioware to make an open world. Just go play an open world game if that's what you want. Here's what Skyrim does and what Oblivion did before that: you get a crapton of useless quests that deviate almost entirely from the main quest either because the main quest is lame so they don't want you to notice and give you distraction, or because the main quest is lame because there's so much filler. Bethesda devs are perfectly capable of creating a good storyline with character interaction. I don't know why they don't just do it.

I hope DA:3 will have open worlds for the cities, I like to explore each town with an Li if Possible and just do normal things R&R stuff.

At least Grigori doesn't drop dead in half a minute like Alduin an apparent "God". Even the Drakes are craploads harder than Alduin.
Also the gorram dragons in SKyrim are freakin' Wyverns.

And yeah, you were really vague with your meaning.

Oh, that's nice.  So why aren't you commending them on their forums again?  Oh, because nobody from BioWare will be reading that to see what you want done here?

But, since you seem to have a problem making intuitive leaps, allow me to point it out:

I posted a Skyrim dragon in a thread about making DA more like Skyrim because I think that Skyrim is cool, and therefore support the assertion, until somebody points it out.

Jack:  Do you think I'm stupid?

Shepard:  This ship is going down in flames.  I have the only way out.  I'm offering to take you with me, and you're arguing.

That's about the same logic you're using, isn't it?

I just don't think this thread is the place to discuss this. I didn't post the picture because "SKYRIM DRAGON IS DAH BEST MAYN!!1!" but just because I think Skyrim is generally cool.

As I said, what makes dragons cool are subject of opinion.

But you are right, the Skyrim Dragons are rather squishy. If I could climb around them like DD I'd be thrilled.

You can google the books if you don't believe me. No dragons in seven books, not a one appeared in lore either.

When you are you usually provoke a reaction, and from the number of people who has quoted my post with different regards I'd say that I was fairly successful =]

That and I just wanted to mess around with Plaintiff a little, he's always so serious.

I am going to eat your Danish stuffing, Mister Dane.

On a slightly more serious note...I wouldn't mind DAI being a little more open- it was horrendously small and limited in DA2 and it was also in an incredibly boring place so I wouldn't mind seeing and traveling to more places. But not the level of Skyrim- Dark Souls maybe, but Skyrim is just overboard.

I agree. I don't think Dragon Age is the worst case of corridors I have seen ever, but they could do with some more space around.

Something I would think would be cool would be branching levels. Say if the PC goes into the deep roads to go to Kal Sharok or something, the road splits in two. Once a path has been chosen a cave in prevents the team from going both ways.

Perhaps there are different bosses or loot. It would be a simple way to open the game for more replayability, at least for the first and second playthrough.
