I'm not trolling for Dragon Age 2 developers but I hope some see this: thank you so much for Dragon Age 2. I just finished my 3rd play through of this game (after buying it on PS3 - first 2 play throughs were on 360) and, everytime I play DA2, I'm struck by how much the story sucks me in. I hate that the work on DA2 was unappreciated by so many since this is truly one of my favorite games from this generation, even above Mass Effect (which I also deeply love). The lore you've developed is deep and interesting, the characters are well written with solid voice acting, and the story is so well crafted that I always cherish my time playing through this game. Again, thank you so much for bringing this game to fruition and I hope for more Dragon Age games in the future.

Cool post. Yeah, I think it's underrated. Despite some of it's flaws, the characters probably give it the biggest thumbs up from me.

I feel the same way! Make sure you buy all the DLC! It's expensive, especially the emporium but it has some awesome codex entries, changes equipment every act, and just looks awesome. BTW Legacy is ideal before All That Remains in ACT2, Leandra gets to see carver again. Bring Carver Anders Verric.

Honestly, I liked the characters and the gameplay. Didn't feel as "auto-attack"ish as the old one did. Plus they got rid of that horrid backstab animation, yeck

I agree. I enjoyed DA:O more, but DA2 was definitely an above-average game. DA:O set many of our expectations too high, which probably isn't a good thing to do.

Wow in 17 days only 5 people say the like the game, That is horrible and sad.
I for one for like the game. It is my least favorite Bioware game though.
I am currently doing a dragon age play through and am excited to play DA2. Even though I hate how I can't talk to my team whenever i want

Just finished it today for the first time. I had more fun with this one than I did with Origins, so I guess I don't know if it's a better game or not. Perhaps there's no need to decide--it was brilliant, and the final moments have me fully excited for what the Inquisition might bring our way.
I'm with you, OP--they did a great job with it.

Ditto, OP: I've finished DA II more times than Origins, and find it more accessible.

I just finished it a couple days ago. I preferred the world exploration of DAO more, Kirkwall was extremely lacking in the personality department. But I thought the main story was head and shoulders above the main story in DAO (they really dropped the ball on the DA2 ending though). They had really good character arcs in DA2, but I really do not like the conversation wheel, I have recently been playing NWN2, and I really prefer how your skills can determine how conversations go.

I played DA:O and enjoyed it a lot. I allowed myself to be put off by the disappointing reviews of DA2. At the time I wanted another epic, open, life-stealing sand-box game. Since then life has changed and I no longer can afford the time to play such epic games to completion.
I picked up DA2 in a bargain bin out and of curiosity and to my great pleasure have found it is precisely the sort of game I'm looking for. All the limitations have become strengths. There's a well-told story with superb dialogue and cut scenes to play through. There's a host of well-designed characters to interact with. There's great combat. There's always something I can achieve even if I only have 20 minutes.
In short I think it's a vastly underrated game. As MMO's like LOTRO become more and more like single player games with a store attached (or in Neverwinter's case, an effective single player MMO because the 'community' makes Lord of The Flies seem like Peter Pan) it's made me think - if I am going to effectively play a single player game I might as well play a single player game.
DA2 might be old but it's infinitely better than the new Store-friendly Solo-LOTRO or Neverwinter. When I load up DA2 I have stuff to do. When I load up lotro I have 5 daily grind quests to do and then nothing but old content. Really looking forward to DA3.
