EVERY ENDING WHERE ALISTAIR DOES NOT BECOME KING IS BUGGED. He always refers to himself as king from after the Landsmeet on, no matter which choice you made. If you are a human noble who marries Anora and has Alistair kill Loghain, the ending is impossible to complete. Anora goes invisible and Alistair will be standing there in king's armor. He also does the king's speech for leading the charge to the battle of Denerim instead of Anora.

The only way to avoid this is to recruit Secret Companion (causing you to lose Alistair) or to make Alistair king

I did neither as my second Cousland, and did not encounter this bug. Let me know if you do, and on what system..

I'm on PC and I've done a 'marry Anora' ending and I'm pretty sure it all worked fine.

I have in encounter this bug 2 times and I am on xbox 360

I have experienced this bug 0 times on the PC. I also have mods and the ability to save as many characters as I want. So, if there was ever any chance that I would buy an Xbox before this conversation started...

Seriously though, I'm glad I own a PC copy.

When I was ten my dad defined this to me as "simply out of luck." I'd say what it really means, but there's a filter.

I look at the Patches list and I can not find the one that fix the king and i bug

It is not marked, but it definitely is fixed. I think for the Alistar giving the speech at the gates when he shouldn't, the wrong file got in somewhere, because in the toolset it is correct, and at the second or third patch, it was corrected for everyone.

At this point, patching to the most recent version is probably your best bet to avoid these bugs.  If you don't want to do that, it's understandable, but I think they're stable.  Keep in mind that some of the bugs are NOT fixed, and never will be.  For instance, if you talk to Alistair after Morrigan talks to the warden at the DR, he will always think he's king even though he's not.

- be a male human noble.
- do not harden Alistair ( the option to harden Alistair comes at the end of his personal quest. After visiting his sister in Denerim: (1) tell Alistair that 'everyone is out for themselves', and then (2) reinforce that opinion during your next fireside chat with Alistair at camp, and Alistair's personality will be hardened. Any other dialogue options will result in him not being hardened.
- propose marriage to Anora at Arl Eamon's estate before the landsmeet
- defeat Loghain in a duel (either yourself or any party memeber) and have Alistair execute him.
- select Anora as ruler - with yourself to rule beside her.

And that'd do it.

I don't think it matters whether you harden him or not, unless you want him to be king. I thought you were being king?

Just say "Alistair, you should be the one to do this" or try to exit out of killing Loghain after saying he shouldn't be a Warden by going "I can't do this".

Alistair might be a peeved off with you if he's hardened, but you'll keep him as a party member.

EDIT: Oh, is it saying he's king despite you choosing otherwise? My bad if I've misread you.

Theoretically, you can be king and not lose Alistair. Just have him execute Loghain.

However, the game is bugged. So, if you want to be king, you probably will, on Xbox, have to spare Loghain and lose Alistair to become king.

Probably. I'd suggest making a save before the Landsmeet -- if the game bugs out, you can reload, though you'll have to redo a bit of the game. If it doesn't, hoorah!
