Hi, guys,
I have an existing dlg from the OC.
I have an NPC and I want to add a line of his into the existing dlg.
I edit the dlg and put the correct speaker tag.
In "Cinematics" I choose the same stage as the other NPCs and the same camera.
When I try to export it tells me "Error creating cutscene from cinematics: Speaker is not mapped to a stage place".
I see that the other NPCs have a "Seed" number, and mine doesn't. ... and also my NPC does not appear in the list of place/tag/required/etc.
I also opened the area to check the stage, but as I don't see any NPC there (no waypoints or anything) I can't figure out how to add mine...
...thanks :-/

I think you'll have to modify the stage. Add a new "place" to it and tag it for your NPC.
Come to think of it, try putting the new NPC in the place of someone else; for example, next to the place of "follower 1" (or whatever the name), select your NPCs tag, see if the error goes away. This would mean someone from your party would be replaced with the NPC, but maybe that's ok for your purpose.

Hi!
Your idea was nice (nice to only edit one thing, hi hi), but I couldn't make it work :-/ so in the end I had to edit the stage.
Thank you!! :-)

Okay, forget what I said.
It doesn't work either if I modify the stage.
What happens is that in game the line of my NPC appears with no problem. However, the creature does not. So it's like a ghost talking.
Could this be a cutscene problem or something? I've also checked the cutscene but it has no NPC by tag, only Henchman1...
Ideas? :-(

So there's a cutscene associated with the convo? I didn't realize that. In that case, you'll want to edit the cutscene as well. Put your NPC in there and give him a tag that will match the one in the dialog.
By the way, you can do all this and change only the dialog. Duplicate the stage, modify and save with another name; same for the cutscene. Reference the new stage in the new cutsecene, and both the new stage and cutscene in the dialog, instead of the originals.

Thanks, Olivia... still problems, though. :-(
I can't modify the cutscene at all (yes, it's checked out :-D ) I can delete all the henchmen and what have you, but I cant copy-paste them, clone them or add anything else. ¬_¬
So my question in this case is how to add a creature (or anything for that matter) to a cutscene ¬_¬
Also, I tried to duplicate the stage and cutscene to try your second advise and I still can't add anything to it, but on top of that I can't reference the duplicated cutscene from the dialog (it's grayed out and I have no way of selecting a new cutscene).
I'm completely lost... :-/

You add stuff to the cutscene like so: with the cutscene open in the editor, go to creatures in the palette, select one, then move your mouse in the active viewport. When the cursor changes to a cross, click - and the creature will be inserted. Same goes with sounds and other placeables.
To change the cutscene in the dialog: select the line, then click "Edit->Dissociate cutscene from line". Then click "Edit->Associate cutscene with line", and you'll be able to select the cutscene you modified.

Gah. Still nothing...
However, I've found this in the wiki:
"specify if the actor is active or not. If a position is active then the actor is visible when the dialog is triggered. If the actor is inactive, then he is invisible when the dialog triggers. Functional shots can be used later to show actors entering or leaving dialog. These functional shots will need to use stage cameras and turn actors visible or invisible."
This sounds awfully familiar, but I can't find any option in the toolset to set the actor "active"! Where's that option?? :-/
Thanks :-(

Nevermnd, I think I've found where to set it active in the dlg (Cinematics tab).

you have to add the stage to the area you want the conversation to take place in. Have to export the area as well as the stage and convo.

That image with the line "Roland are you ok?" made me laugh.

hmm, looks like your camera defined in your stage is off. Is it a custom stage you have there or something built-in?
In case it is your own, then open the stage editor, then assign one of the 4 viewports to see what the camera sees (right click on where it says 'user', then choose camera->your camera's name). You can tweak it there. Make sure you save and export otherwise your new settings will get lost

Also, something i just thought of. In the conversation editor, under the cinematics tab for each line (each line!) you have to explicitly tell the conversation which camera to use. There is a dropdown combobox for it. By default it is set to 'default", except there are no default cameras in any given stage. This happened to me before.

Ah! That was it. Silly camera... it took me a while to put it in the right orientation too, for some reason I couldn't do it by hand with my mouse, I had to do it with the orientation and position numbers x_x
Anyways... looking better :-D http://img204.images...10011823032.jpg
Thanks for your help, guys!! :-D
Lady of Lore: Ha ha ha, I was laughing for a good 5 minutes with that one. :-D
