Yeah, I remember stickman...but the issue of surface tangents would have remained.  I'll have to test my Hospital Ashley body mod (with a real t-shirt vs the current) to see if the game still crashes for some reason the moment you try and talk to her.  I could get my edit into the game there just fine (with lighting/reflection problems) but when I ever tried to start the conversation, crash.  Hopefully this will sidestep that issue, whatever it was.

Hey WV...now that it took practically no time at all for this final fix, any chance you might use some of the extra time freed up to make it possible for ME1 and ME2 as well? :)

Do you mean the original (basically it was just her romance body with a black "t-shirt" texture slapped on top of it.  Her breasts were as free as if she were nude.  Or do you refer to the edit I've done to make it more like she's actually wearing a t-shirt?

Incidently, the t-shirt texture used takes into account each breast so the shading/shadowing in it looks like 2 individual breasts.  That texture will need a minor fix to appear more t-shirt like to go with my edit.

um no buddy, i ment this, I would have thought both she and Kaidan should have been wearing hospital gowns.

Instead they reuse models from other scenes, so it cuts down on the amount of work and time needed. Ashley's model is a re-texture of the romance scene version, and female Shepard also uses it.
Kaidan is the same model and texture as his romance version, with male Shepard and Cortez also using the same body. It's so, so lazy of them... it's stuff like that that's turned me off of Bioware, to be honest.

Yeah.  That was one of the first edits I did.  Her body is 1)no longer the same as the others, and 2) she doesn't have the distinct, separate breasts any longer for the hospital scene.
 
The same dynamic applies to the "sexy dress" models as well.  Same same same with different textures applied.  I have edited several so they are not identical.  Similar, yes, because they are all in outstanding physical condition as is fitting, but identical no more.

I went for Colossus for everyone.  We are all black and red.  Colossus is pretty much the best armor set in ME1 aside from nice color scheme.  Though I would have prefered a camo scheme, whether urban or woodland.


Congrats! Glad all the work paid off for you.

I always use the Armax Arsenal Predator L/M/H, looks nice with woodland camo and has best shields/tech and biotic resistance in game i think.

Everyone else...I am out and away from my computer for another 6 days but upon my return I will complete the conversion of my mesh edits to upk format and start putting them into the appropriate pcc.  Those pccs will then be made available for download (drop-in replacement) of your current pcc file.  You will have to have ME3explorer so you can run TOCbinupdater afterwards but that would be about it.  I can also make the models themselves available as upk files.  I will also edit the uniform bodies above for Ashley alternative uniforms so they are coincident with her romance body and hospital body (and eliminate the bleed-through of chest in above images).


Awesome! Take your time, but either way, I can't wait to see the results.

For those who wish it, I can work with some ponytail, bun, and other hair meshes and make them fit Ashley's head properly (some of them, at least most of them that I've looked at don't fit her head - they are made for heads that have a slightly different shape).

ADDENDUM: Also, I hope you include an optional no-undies Traynor shower mesh. That drove me crazy.  Who does that?! They should have made her nude and then used strategic camera angles to not show anything (even though they COULD have, this being an M-rated game).

There was a lot of that from ME2 and 3 - the poor depiction of love scenes, etc.  ME1 did it very well with simple strategic camera work, but there was no doubt what was going on.  

I'm not really much of a texture magician, I only edited the one texture for Ashley so she would be topless for the love scene (I mainly had issues with Ashley waking up in the morning STILL WEARING HER BRA AND PANTIES.  NO ONE does that...NO ONE...and no one takes showers in clothes either...or takes baths).  Nonetheless, the texture I did do for Ashley would work with any female character using that body: traynor in the bath, femshep in underwear, etc.

You know, I have already shortened Ashley's "sexy dress" a few inches...because of WV's new change, I can make the edit more dramatic. I was avoiding removing vertices, was carefully moving rows of vertices upward, adjusting outward, upward, outward. That limited how much I could do. I can now go in and edit the dresses/skirts to a greater extent. Much shorter or perhaps even another variant that clings, is much longer, but has a long slit in up high up the thigh...I'll have to investigate it.

WarrantyVoider, I was just thinking I could actually give Tali a face with your new ME3explorer import function. She only has a partial face under the mask as it is but if you added bone import too, I could replace Tali's bones with those of Liara, for instance, with all the bones for controlling parts of the face. I could take Ashley's head as a basis for producing a full face for Tali, edit it based on the partial face that exists for Tali. At some point it might then be possible to do something with her mask removed or made more transparent and actually seeing a functioning full face underneath. Someone would need to create a face texture to go with it, perhaps based on some of the fan art conceptuals...

Just thinking about possibilities.

Hey WarrantyVoider, IS is possible that the mesh import could be made to work with ME2 and ME1? I wouldn't actually change much in ME1 as I thought most characters were fine there but I would like to make my Tali edits uniform across the entire series.

@Getorex: I fully love what you're doing here and I often find myself lurking in this thread. Also I'm kinda glad when you mentioned a few pages back that you liked Ashley's current casual ^^' and since you're tinkering with it, would it be possible for femshep to wear your version too?

Another question: when will your mod be complete? And once it's finished, will it feature an auto installer in it (like the one wavion makes for MEHEM)? Sorry if I sounded like a noob, well, that's because I am one, heh ^^'

Also I've red your ideas about 'tweaking' some parts of Rannoch in MrFob's thread, man that would be awsome if it can be implemented. Because honestly, after Tuchanka.. There's not much of an 'exciting' mission to go through (for me at least). Idk, things just kinda went downhill after that..

I'll look into an installer but, in truth, it isn't really hard at all without one.  All that would be involved is downloading a modified pcc file (I will supply), make a backup copy of the original and replace it with the downloaded version, run TOCbinupdater in ME3Explorer.  That's it.  

It would be possible to give a femshep the Ashley casual/default uniform just as WV was able to give femshep Liara's default uniform in his demo of the new import process.  I might make a variant of the Ashley default and name it a "femshep version".  I'm trying to NOT make all the main female characters look physically identical.

THAT is simple.  And already done.  But it comes with a topless texture, not that it wouldn't be easy to "fix" in underwear textures too.

Just a quick question. How would you insert these in game? They are not Texmod files. Do you use ME3Explorer? Will your files be similar?

@Chris2365 the img files in the zip are the format of textures in the game files. In this case you use me3explorer, the texplorer app under developer tools. You right click on the tgt texture, select 'replace' and do it. Permanent texture replacemnt. This is how I do it as I dnt know how to make tpf files or create a mod file. This one is simple bcuz there is only one LOD in romance scenes so only one img needs to be replaced.
