Same exact issue with the second Alliance uniform. The right arm from elbow to shoulder is wrecked but nothing else is wrong. I'll have to try a completely untouched model (no alterations by Blender or 3ds) and see if it has the same issue.

More issues popping up. Not sure how well (if at all) the upks released in the OP will work. I just ran a very simple Ashley catsuit edit in the game and it was COMPLETELY wrecked. Perfectly OK in Blender and 3ds and UDK but in the game...nothing even resembling a body (or anything recognizable). I'll have to run tests on the upks I've released to determine which will behave (if any).

Sorry folks, the problems are not solved.

I don't see why this would feck up for you, as this has been tested to work on mesh edits and imports for meshes originating from both ME2 and ME3. There are 0 isues reported with those upon re-import.

Maybe try do an edit on shep, like your 1st or 4th casual edit. Things are tested to work on her, maybe the issue is limited or specific to squadmates.

That's a possibility, that the issue(s) may crop up for certain squadmates in certain situations.  At the moment I'm seeing a bunch of oddities here and there and cannot, as yet, tie any of them to the problem (or perhaps they all are).  It may also be tied to certain pcc files and how/when they're used.  The one I started with, the hospital with Ashley laying there, would accept edits (a BioD file rather than a BioH) as would others but as soon as you tried to talk to her...crash.  The BioH files would accept edits fine (with artifacts) before and not crash, with the character operating fine.  The current pcc I'm working with is another BioD...

I am going to start from scratch on the alliance uniforms. No idea where the issues are coming from at this point. I've also redone my Ashley default uniform...

OK...the other day I blue screened due to system overheat (I think) and wonder if that dorked my copy of ME3explorer or other parts of my system. I will be re-downloading ME3explorer from scratch and try again with exporting a psk, importing the psk into UDK, and then putting the upk into ME3 and NOT get a glitch. Hopefully my CPU, GPU or RAM isn't dorked up.

Update...

It appears that there will be SOME places in the game where changes are not possible. I happened to fall into one with the file BioH_Ashley_00_NC.pcc. No matter what alternative uniform/body I place into this file, it will work. That is not to say that it wont work elsewhere. I just happened to start on this one. So...it will not be UNIVERSALLY possible to change things up in the game but we clearly can change things elsewhere just fine. Until/unless Bioware loosens up and becomes friendly to the modder community, that is where it is. I will continue to release my mods and we will all just have to figure out as we go along where and when we can use them (and other people's).

So, at least at the VERY beginning of the game, it is not possible to change Ashley's uniform. I'll tinker with other Ashley pcc files to see where the line is drawn.

The particular issue with changing Ashley's uniform in BioH_Ashley_00_NC.pcc is restricted to her right upper arm. It is a weighting issue between her default mesh and any other mesh you replace it with. All I can do is take a look at the weighting of her default uniform mesh vs any other mesh and see if there is anything obvious there. This may just be a glitch in the game itself, may even be restricted to this one file/character.

Maybe try and copy the weighting of her default mesh over to the adjusted mesh via skin wrap?
That's what we've been doing with hairstyles.

Did my first test. I tried to replace classy hair form upk and it worked but game crashes instantly after loading save. However, replacing the cerberus armour with miranda ME2 DLC on worked:

Obviously one should remake speculars but other than that it was fine. If one would remove the heard gear part and make the neck opening a bit larger, it would be quite nice option actually. (Well, it might need some breast, butt and waist size adjustments.) For some reason after doing the replacement the armour locker crashes (or minimises the game and sends you to desktop) when you hit save... But then again I'm not surprised - I'm haven't touched anything, just direct export & import and only converting the psk's to upk's (I haven't touched the import settings either).

Err...I'm iffy on weighting skills.  I did do a test by looking at weights on a few of my edits (psk format) and the exported psk from the game via ME3explorer.  There are differences and some glitches too (most glaring I found immediately was heavy weighting associated with Ashley's right shoulder - affected both the right shoulder AND BOTH HER FEET!  So weighting needs to be checked before I export a psk from Blender (and possibly 3ds) for import into UDK.

I don't know how to do a skin wrap but if that would fix weighting issues I'd love to know how to do it...can you point to instructions somewhere?  What tool?  3ds?

I have to assume that part of the problem with a few of the edits I've done are associated with errant weighting (but pristine Alliance uniforms or Femshep armor exported as psk, imported into UDK and converted to upk, then imported into ME3 for use by Ashley has same basic issue so not only that). Here's a pic of Ashley's default uniform edited in Blender and saved as a psk for import into UDK. This is the weight map for her RIGHT SHOULDER. Note the feet:

I'll see if I can cook something up and/or ask one of the veterans because I've only done it twice myself =) I'll get back to you over PM if that's cool. Edit: with 3ds btw.

Here's the deal: don't use the upks I released yet. They will not function in the game correctly. Blender can import psk files OK but upon export it completey screws up the bone weighting. The result in gameis an unrecognizable mess. The issue is not visualized in UDK. Blender can export an alternate format (fbx) that UDK will import and the bones and weighting are not wrecked. I need to check the weights and re-export all my edits as fbx and pass them through UDK that way so it will take a bit more time. Also, WarrantyVoider (creator of Me3explorer) has confirmed that it is not possible to change Ashley's uniform in, at least, BioH_Ashley_00_NC.pcc that is used at the beginning of the game (intro on earth...may apply to Kaiden too). Whatever uniform is tried, edited or not touched, fails to present properly. This may be a one off glitch with the game or may signal that there will be some places where uniform swaps or edits are impossible.

Update...I believe I've gotten around the weighting issue.(went back to working model with correct weights in Blender, exported as fbx instead of psk). I've got almost all my models passed through UDK now. I will test a couple in the game to MAKE SURE they are OK and then go ahead with release. Alternate takes a little more time: switch to using 3DS Max which I am less familiar with but that is known not to dick up weights.

What. A. Pain! For whatever reason I have incredible difficulty getting an Ashley default uniform (catsuit) edit into the game. I have finally gotten one relatively modest version of it into the game successfully now but it isn't as tweaked as I wanted it. I also checked her armor and it works fine...there was a wee bit of bleed-through of her cleavage through the front indicating that I reduced the breasts a little too much so I reinflated just a bit to make it go away...that and the right side of her neck was bleeding through. Odd since I never touched the neck but I fixed that too. Now I need to test Liara and Tali and Ashley's hospital and love scene bodies to make sure there's nothing goofy there.

OK...so far, Ashley default uniform, Ashley armor (not my true preferred but a new one), Liara default uniform, Tali default all work. Should soon have info on Tali alternative uniform and Liara default armor.

Thank you. I'm beginning to feel like I'm being left behind with all the stuff coming from ELE and Ottemis (hair, jackets, textures, etc).

I am just finishing a re-do of Tali's alternate uniform. While the default works fine for some reason the alternate didn't so I have had to re-do it but this time in 3ds Max and I HATE 3ds. It feels like I'm pushing my mouse through molasses (what did they code it in, Java?!) and the fine grain control I get in Blender just isn't there. Anyway, need to test the Ashley romance body and hospital body as well as my finishing Tali alternate...back in a bit.

Pah! Crazy person. I'm just fiddling with some hair haha. I don't have plans to do many either really.
ELE and me are more about customization for Shep then anything else I think.
What you do compliments it nicely =)

Yeah stick with it. You're covering stuff I have no plans on doing. Really, I just wanted to give my Shep a fabulous head of hair and new armor...mission accomplished.
And I understand your frustration with 3DS, it's a steep learning curve, but in the end I think it's a bit more versatile (and generally has more modding support for other games, so it's a good skillset.)

Sadly, that is true.  Blender, though free and very good is VERY insular.  It cannot export much of anything properly for interoperability and the developers, when pushed on this weakness, like to say, "so get coding" as if everyone can be or should be programmer (my response to that is, next time you break your arm or contract some disease TREAT IT YOURSELF!  Become a doctor and do your own medicine). <_<
