Thanks Am gonna examine Ottemis's MOD files to see where he replaced what. Any idea where he linked his MOD files?

Ottemis is a woman and has a HUGE thread on her hi-rez texture mods: http://social.biowar.../index/16260765

It is fairly simple to replace textures via Texplorer.

@Getorex

Thanks for the link! Many thanks for the Mesh and UPK. The helmet looks great!

Progress Report
- Have successfully imported the textures in (kept them at 512 resolution for now, will be upping them later)
- Hair still pokes through the helmet. Curious as to how hair was ignored in the blue-hardsuit
- There has to be a toggle somewhere to trigger the ignorance of hair. Default Shepards can have some pretty crazy hairstyle and somehow its hidden.

I don't understand the hair issue. You did the mod on the Ashley_01 pccs? Both 01.pcc and 01_Explore.pcc? And the hair thing occurs? Oh wait...this is on her pink catsuit pcc?

This is the pink catsuit one. After the destruction I wreaked on Ashley_01 earlier, am leery of touching it.

For some odd reason my version of Me3explorer is cool with editing DLC content.

I think I begin to understand the hair issue then. The pink uniform pcc, what object was replaced with the helmet? A mask?  If it is a mask then that is an object that gets applied to her face while keeping her hair in place.  A helmet inserted there is still treated as the mask functionally, though structurally it is totally different.  This might be a pcc that could benefit from the ME1 hair bun mesh.  It is a simple shape, no fancy layers and transparency, just a shape that gets hair texture painted on it.  It MIGHT work fine with Ashley's normal hair texture.  If it does than it should remain invisible under the helmet.  If it has parts that poke through, assuming it does work, those parts could be altered just enough in to prevent it.  When I get a chance I'll look around my folders and see where I stuck that mesh.  I had to edit it to make it fit her ME3 head...

Am right now using Church0071's Ashley Hair bun for the moment to test the helmet. Its a lot better, but there is still some hair poking through.

If push comes to shove, I could always strip Ashley's hair and just remind people to keep her helmet on always.

Or hope someone creates a pixie cut hairstyle for Ash :P

That's why I was suggesting a the ME1 short bun hair.  As for a pixie for Ash mentioned...I have tried several short hair meshes on Ashley but the issue so far remains texture-related.  Some of the pccs/locations in game don't get along with altered hair meshes + texture and need the expertise of someone like Ottemis to fix, but she has her hands full right now trying to get any of her mods into generally working form for everyone.  ME3Explorer has REALLY screwed her over.

I was (mostly) kidding.  I'm not even sure I could imagine ash in a pixie cut.

So I created a composite mesh in 3Ds. This is what I found:

I suspect UDK or 3DS has some sort of option for layering or hiding underlying textures or something. Am gonna investigate that option. Perhaps thats how Bioware hid Ashley's long hair underneath her helmet?

When/if the texture/mesh modding situation gets ironed out I will give a shot at replacing her default armor with your Atlas and see if I can manage to get by with it.

Here's the link to the files used to create the composite in case anyone else wants to pitch in.

Final Package.zip (22.0 MB)

You may noticed that are no MODs in the folder. Given the current state of me3explorer am gonna avoid deploying mods for some time.

Edit: Nvm, I just saw the updated OP and don't want to suggest any new ideas until you get your current ones fixed.

Hope it all works out, soon!

We are narrowing down to a possible compromise means of doing things. It may be necessary for everyone who wants to use mesh mods AND texture mods (I am among those) to use 2 separate versions of ME3Explorer, and old one that is known to work with Ottemis' texture mods and the recent one for mesh mods. Still testing though.

Well, my question was related more to texture modding than anything.

I just wanted to know how possible it would be to replace EDI's default "robot" model with Dr. Eva's pre-burnt "infiltration" model (with Eva's skin, hair, and eyes intact).

Just thought I'd at least ask if it was possible with the current mechanics of the game.

A pixie cut hairstyle would look good on her

Not sure.  I'd been considering doing away with EDI's default body and replacing it with clothed versions, or perhaps leaving it as is for the initial appearance of EDI in the new body but then having her clothed after.  Eva's body IS EDI's body (the clothed versions) just with different clothing textures on it.  The face...I assume the face is structurally identical with different skin texture.

I'm not sure if this has come to your attention buuuuuut....

I ran a couple of your mods and got a repeatable crash when talking to Joker after the prologue. I've come to the conclusion (after reinstalling everything and testing the game one mod at a time) that the EDI mod causes the crash. :-/

Which is weird because EDIs body isn't even present for that convo. I'll do another test just to confirm.

EDIT: Yep. DEFINITELY that mod.

Ok...I will check it and break it down into smaller bits. The Ashley helmet mod seems to be troublesome too. Not sure why as the shep and james mods work.

Ah, well if it's a project you would ever feel like undertaking, I'd like to see it! When it comes to Sci-Fi androids, I'm more of a Data guy, myself. It would be nice to see EDI with some skin on her!

But first things first! Hope you work out the problems you're currently having with ME3explorer!

The "fix" appears to be that if people want to do mesh modding and texture modding, then they will need to install 2 versions of ME3Explorer. A fairly ancient version available from the OP of Ottemis' texture thread because it can reliably do texture mods, and a recent SVN version (I'm back to v472) for mesh mods. You do not want to do texture mods w/recent SVNs. They all have different problems for textures. I have the two versions because I'll be damned that I'll give up texture mods.

What this means is that you do NOT want to run any of the texture mods I offer in the OP. They are all produced by a recent SVN and therefore broken. I'll redo them with the old ME3exp version when I get the chance.

We had hoped to find an earlier svn version that did textures right and cut-paste that code into the recent versions that do mesh mods well but we couldn't find a single useful version except the very old one...and there is no easy way to stick them together.
