thanks for the info, i had in fact suspected that, however i can't find textures that fit the ones you used. No worries though the meshes were the important bit but cool.

Doing some idle playing around, here is an Adam Jensen mesh I've been messing with.  I've given him Shepard's bones and am currently fixing a lot of split vertices and flipped normals.  I'm not sure I'll ever manage to get this to go into ME3 but I'm going to try.

This is a really difficult job, even more than trying to get EDI and EVA's heads and hair to combine for an EDI with actual EVA hair (hard).  The problems are many fold.  First, there are no UVs so I have to create those from scratch.  There are no textures, except for his face, available that I can find.  I have his face texture but that's it.  Hmmm...as I think on it, it may be easier to use Kaiden's bones and stick this model into the game in place of Kaiden because Adam's hair mesh is part of his head, not separate like ALMOST all other ME characters.  The exception is Kaiden.  Kaiden's doesn't have a separat hair mesh, his is part of his head mesh/scalp.

Does this updated mesh affect only Diana Allers or does it affect all the bodies that use that mesh, including the N7 dress and Citadel dress for FemShep?

That particular mod applies only to Allers. The body (skirt) is actually used broadly for Ash and Brooks. A slight variant is used for femshep (only diff is addition of necklace). I could have used the single Allers mod and applied it to the others too in which case different textures are applied.  Instead I opted to make each one nonidentical. For Ash I shortened the skirt a few inches, reduced the breasts, and as with ALL of them fixed the horrible posture. Brooks was made overall more sleek and slender.

As far as femshep, I have the dress (or one dress at least) with the necklace. I will have to look for it in my files because I don't think I completed that one.  It, like Ashley and Brooks, are more difficult ro mod because it requires alteration to DLC. Not a simple mod run as I go into in the OP.  I'll see how the femshep skirt is and if it is ready for primetime I could make it available.

As I recall, at the time I was doing a lot of work in Blender but it turned out that Blender was problematic for mesh editing ME3. It's possible I may have to redo the edit in 3ds Max :(.

OK, Jensen is put aside for now because he is mainly a lark. A palette cleanser. I've decided to give a shot to giving Tali a face behind a full-view helmet (somewhat less opaque than the default). I'm going to use Kelly Chambers' face as a template because she is small and delicate-featured and Tali is fairly delicate-featured too.  I never paid attention before but I was surprized and pleased to see that Tali has all the normal facial animation bones.

A bit of progress as I add a face to Tali. Instead of Chamber's face, I took a generic female head and edited it, reducing the cheek puffiness, narrowing the nose and lowering the eyebrow ridges. Tali's default neck is too thin to accomodate any normal ME3 heads so I am completely removing the neck from the modified head and sticking it into her helmet, shrinking it just a bit to make it fit within the helmet properly.  For practical reasons I wont remove the part of the helmet that obscures her mouth but I will shrink its profile so more or her actual mouth will be visible through the semi-opaque mask.

One last tweak of Tali...reduced the mouthpiece profile a bit and lowered it. Now you can (will) see her mouth through the face plate/glass. Reduce the opacity of the face plate a bit and her face will be visible and presumably mobile.

Been checking into your thread now and then and never found any videos of your edited meshes on Youtube (too lazy to install them myself, but this stuff sounds interesting). If anyone here uses them and puts them on Youtube, mebbe they feel compelled to link to it out of gratitude, hmmmmm? Wonder what they look like in action.

All the screen captures in game derive from vids. I suppose I could get them up on youtube, though some of the alterations are subtle such that they wouldn't clearly show up in a vid. I'll think about it.

The Ashley love scene mod, the Ash hospital scene, and when I get the Tali face mod going, those would be clearly evident in vid. So would Liara's love scene mod but I don't have a game to record with her as LI.

A bit further on Tali and a new full face. As mentioned previously, I took a generic female head, edited it to be unique for Tali, then I used Ashley's face texture, recolored it and inserted it into the Tali texture, remapped the face to the new face... Also added eyes, eyelashes, teeth, tongue maps to the Tali texture map:

Looks great.

I would leave Tali's eyes as white though, unless you are just using those to show as placeholder, etc.

Great work as always!

I went with semi normal eyes (I made the whites of the eyes very white...unlike all eye textures in the game) because I don't believe it matters. I'll see in reality soon, I hope, but the partial face Tali does have doesn't have eyes at all. I'm not sure how the glow eyes is done but I suspect it will either apply over the eyes I gave her or make the eyes I gave her luminescent.

Her iris color is entirely unique for her since I ran a few special effect scripts on them before selecting the winner.  These are actually Shepard's eyes all jazzed up.

I have a few issues to iron out on the uv map for Tali here but once I get it worked out, I will be able to produce a new mod with it.  I will use the same face and faceplate on her other variants.  I had to expand her faceplate out a bit and lower the helmet chin to accommodate the face.  Also added teeth and tongue and eyelashes (had to add each to the texture map).

The face texture is a modified Ashley texture.

The upside to doing this Tali work is I may be able to complete the EDI edit where I wanted to give her Eva's hair.

Are you saying you applied a Liara mod and it's causing DLC crashes or did you do the DLC mod I released?

Which uniform is she wearing?

I am using all the liara meshes (except the DLC ones as the dlc editing was to daunting) and she wears the standard white. As its part of the escape from teh sushi shop

OK...I'll regenerate the default uniform. Some of the mods were produced with older versions of ME3explorer and haven't yet been updated. It should be up within the hour.

New version of the default uniform mod is on the OP now.  Let me know if it helps.  Frankly, the default Liara uniform didn't have a lot I wanted to alter to it.  Her DLC-provided alternative uniform, yes, and her romance body/texture, yes.  The armor is basically the same as Ashley's mod with a different texture applied.

If the default uniform still causes issues let me know and also know that in that particular case, I didn't actually change very much compared to the others.

for what ever reason this work. its always odd how very minor changes in mods can end up gimping games for no apparent reason.

Thanks for all your hardwork mate

That's a relief.  I always get a little queezy wondering if a mod is going to end up being totally unusable for some reason.  The Tali alternate uniform full mod is one so far...even though it is the same alterations as I did for her default uniform, it crashes the game.  I may try again with the latest ME3explorer on possibility that it was the issue.

I'm getting ready to re-skin the Tali-with-a-face mod in hopes that it will work...

OK...I finally got Tali's UV maps modified to accomodate a full face, eyes, teeth, etc. The weights are not yet correct for her to be able to "speak" and it looks like I'll have to fix that the hard way (by hand) but I'm close to having her workable in the game. I've further edited her eyes so they are slanted a little like her original partial face:

@Deager: As is appropriate considering the difficulty of getting a working face on Tali, it is taking me a while. I've recreated her 4 times so far from zero because of screw ups or blind alleys I wasn't sure how to get out of. THIS time I'm hoping I'm close. It's the weighting that's the holdup. I've tried 4 times in different ways with different settings to get weights assigned properly to Tali's face (and body) so that it SHOULD work in game. I've gotten close but not quite there yet.

Yesterday, just for the hell of it, I went ahead and tried importing her into the game with the facemask missing. I just wanted to see her in the game and working without facial animation first...but it crashed ME3explorer (not the game). She looks OK in UDK but getting from there to the game was a hitch...so I started over again.

Your work is far, far more complex than what I did so hats off to you. I went to school for character animation and trust me, I know how complicated this can get and that's just in a non-game environment. You're making this happen with 3rd party tools and trial and error. Good luck!

I'm just looking forward to seeing females who didn't all opt for plastic surgery during the 6 months between ME2 and ME3.
