What makes you think I haven't burned entire countries? I may be able to test her tomorrow and if goes well, get her out soon after, then I will alter the original to have the same eyes.

Sweet.  Looking forward to it.  Image IPB

I'm quitting for the evening. I just edited Tali Default's Face Mod texture with the new eyes and placed where they SHOULD glow just like the Alternate.

Tali Alternate Uniform Face Mod FINALLY WORKS! And her eyes glow in this version. I will make another that doesn't have the glowing eyes (my personal preference). This mod plus a revised default uniform mod is now available in the OP (both with glowing eyes).  I think I've also gotten rid of the reflectivity in her eyelashes but do need to edit her alternate uniform lashes to match the smaller versions in her default uniform mod (I like the smaller lashes given I cannot give her lashes the way other characters have them due to the alpha blending trickery involved.

Downloaded both and about to have a go.  So, just because I'm a little thick, these mods are either one or the other and not both at the same time, or can I install both?

Either way, they look good.

Okay, I installed the default Tali over fresh PCC's (updated with the TOCupdater).  This is the result:

Tali in the War Room:

Tali on the Geth Server or going after Koris her visor is as opaque as ever, but if you squint, you can still see her face moving underneath.  Her eyes have no glow whatsoever.  Best shots I could get of that:

Geth:

Koris:

Her romance culmination:

Other than that, she works and looks well.  Maybe it's something I'm doing wrong?  I used fresh PCC's, the latest ME3Explorer...  or is this girl just a tough nut to crack?

As to Tali's Alt uniform:

Geth:
Image IPB

Her jaw juts through.

Image IPB

Her uniform looks great, if a bit dark.

Koris:

Her eyes are glowing flat slits in this one.  Again, a fresh install of PCC's, etc.  Still willing to just assume it's my own fvckuppery.

Sorry guys...I used a defective model for the Tali default uniform, latest.  I have so many working models here I grabbed the wrong one.  I just finished a thorough re-weighting of her and her face and will use that to generate a new one forthwith.  I may still need to reduce the opacity of the visor in her alternate uniform.  I tested her on Thessia and it was dark, and I could see her barely but thought it might be an issue of the dark atmosphere.  I'll take it down some more.

Cool.  In your own time.  Personally, I'd rather it be right and done than right now and half-done.  Probably why I can never work for the gaming industry.  Image IPB

Finishing for the night. Had to heavily retool the weights on Tali Default. Will test her tomorrow morning and if she's all right I'll put her back out. As for Alternate...she works but there seems to be a texture issue specific to her face. I've reduced her visor opacity quite a bit and she just appears odd. Not sure where it's coming from...spec map? She renders perfectly in 3ds and in the game I was just assuming it was opacity too high. I take it down quite a bit and she just isn't rendering well in the face. Odd. Will fix that tomorrow too.

I ran the Tali default uniform face mod in-game after havng rejiggered her weights and she worked.  She is safe and separated from all the other versions and ready to be made into the mod file.

I KNOW both work now, just a few last details to get it as perfect as I can.  What a headache.

@JakeMacDon I hadn't yet applied the mod to Tali's romance pcc. One I have the default working at least as good as before I'll add that to the package.

How this latest oops started: I had just finished with testing my latest alternate version and was very pleased - I had spent some time carefully editing her face so it was weighted up as close to identical to any other face in the game and decided to revisit the default mod and do the same. As I mentioned, I have quite a collection of Tali working models and I stupidly chose the wrong one and making a mod with it screwed it up. The alternate is just a simple glitch, it turns out, and can easily be fixed (I have a host of body textures too, packaged the wrong one).

I have separated the final models and am doing the same for the textures so I won't mix them up again. I'll run the actual mods on my system rather than just trust to the fact that my pcc pcc files work for me with the various data imported into them in the process of creating the actual mod file. In any case I suspect that tweaking the visor opacity will be the last lingering issue. It's hard to nail one value down because what looks good in one setting may be too little opacity in others, or even too much.

I ran Tali's latest default version on my system just before bed on Rannoch. I need to look at her on the Normandy before I call her ready again (new face weights).

I'll then do a few final checks of her alternate appearance...

Ah, see, that just displays my ignorance all over.  I had thought once applied it ranged over the whole game.  Should have realized different events would call for different applications.  Well, I'm ancient as hell, so hopefully I can be given a pass on not knowing this smarty-pants elemectronic whippersnapper stuff.

I certainly didn't think it was a lack of talent, ability or even just trying.  The ME series is notoriously hard to mod (one of the reasons I think games in the last few years just come and go - hell, games like the old Unreal Tournaments are still being played because fans can mod the ever-lovin' crap outta them and it keeps them interesting, fun and worth playing.  Nowadays - guess it's not 'economically viable' for game companies to let you have fun if they can't charge you for it.) and mistakes happen - especially when you work as hard at it as you do.

Do whatcha gotta in your own time and expect praise regardless.

Banging head on desk...I am NOW hopefully in the final stages of a fixed release. Unfortunately I have to first delete and then rebuild my texplorer database because a screwed up entry (double entry) for Tali's default uniform texture is preventing the correct texture from being applied and working in-game.   Anyone know where the texplorer texture database is located these days?

I'm first going with a no eye-glow version. The visor opacity on the Alternate uni is temporarily set at 65%, pretty low, so her face is clearly visible.

I would not be surprise to find that I will need to tweak a few skin weights here or there as the models are used in game and little glitches appear in the skin. I am also going to probably need to tweak the eyes a bit to overcome their tendency to look up too high (into the upper eyelids). Simple: move the eyeball UV map up on the eyeball texture so the iris and pupil are in a normal position most of the time.

It will be a day before I can update anything. Having to repair my game install (because of mistake made trying to fix a damn texplorer database fail). That will take a while and then I need to rebuild the texplorer database. Can do the mod and testing until then.

Hm, hm, It's good to know the program you use. Very impressive work. I use SoftImage for my editing, should I be learning Maya or do you think that's adequate?

THANK GOD FOR FIXING THAT POSTURE

I don't know Maya though I assume it's similar to 3ds?  So far I've been using 3ds Max for the mesh edits and exports, Paint.Net for any texture doctoring, sometimes Gimp.

Then you NEED UDK to do the final prep of the mesh to import.  Fortunately, UDK is free.

Texplorer is almost done rebuilding it's database and my game is repaired. I've determined that Tali Alternate, the mesh, actually is working BUT because of my previous texture issue, the texture that goes with it wasn't being installed properly so the new mesh was using the original texture. All wrong. Her face will be dark and featureless.

And...screw it.  Texplorer borked it again.  I have to delete ME3explorer and the DLC database and start from zero.  AGAIN.  I hate texplorer.:pinched:

OK...on MY system this stuff all works. I'll put them up and hope they work for YOU people a bit later. The first 2 are of Tali alternate uniform.  There's a lighting issue on her face yet, meaning I'll have to look at the spec map and see if I can fix it later.

OK, I'm about to go to bed. I have a cold and NEED SLEEP. I am posting a new set of mods in the OP based on the above pictured mods. As I said, it works for me but now I need to see if it works more widely. Last time, I thought I had the best opacity for her default uniform and it is set at 92% in this mod, 85% for the alternate. What looks perfect to me in one setting seems to change in other settings.

I suspect I will also be wanting to reduce the movement of her jaw. I have it weighted just like anyone elses so her jaw moves like any other characters but with thie helmet, it might not be optimal. Her jaw shouldn't show through because I weighted the helmet chin cover the same as the chin immediately above it. It may still not look "right" so I may tone it down in a future iteration.
