To get the worst possible EMS even if you have a ton of asset points, just simply not update the galactic status map / disconnect from the Net right after the game is launched. (aka unplug / disable network devices)

Load your game and play after you have disconnected and voila, scorched earth.

There you go. :-P

Trust me, I'm not someone who needs to be conviced of this.  Anyway, back on topic....I thought about just playing entirely offline, with no EC, but in the original low-ems ending do you see your squadmates die during the run to the beam?  In any case I went back to a lousy ME2 save just before the suicide mission and got a nice shep to import.  Crew all dead, only surviving squad members were Samara and Zaeed.  I did Samara's loyalty mission, but didn't have enough paragon or renegade points to pick Morinth in her apartment.

How does one judge which outcome is better.
In some ways Refuse and the galaxy being badly damaged is an acceptable outcome from the battle for control of this galaxy.
A battle for control of a galaxy should be no small matter, the outcome will decide the fate of an uncountable number of aliens and beings.
A strong message being sent is the best thing for the galaxy, the galaxy must receive this message and I am not sure if control and synthesis sent this message.
High destroy sent the message but not as strongly as it could be sent, something which could be forgotten easily in peace times.

If the best outcome is a ensuring peace and harmony in the galaxy for another billion years then the best possible outcome is one people think is the worse for their current view on the Mass effect galaxy.
Synthesis and Control are probably the worse for the galaxy in the long run.

Do Destroyers have mental problems? Because hating other people because of different opinion on VIDEO GAME endings is the most pathetic thing I've ever seen.

I am fully capable of hating abuse or complete lack of logic regardless of whether it is applied to a scenario from a video game or the real world.

One thing about war-assets I mulled over:

You could try and use Coalesced Save Editor to alter one of the acquired war-assets to a sufficiently enough negative number. Some of those do contain negative values within the game even as is, after all. May be worth a try.

Otherwise cannot exactly disagree with the sentiment quoted there...

That works just fine; it's how I tested getting EDI's platform destroyed in low-EMS Control.

Pathetic?

The title of op is: How to get worst possible ending?

In my honest opinion: Pick Synthesis.

Mental problems can be triggered from something like the ending of me 3, it's sad but true.
When something doesnt make sense & shock you so hard you can't believe it, It's also why an author needs to be careful when he writes
If it doesn't make sense it doesn't make sense, they can't stop thinking about it & there the mental problems activates, so don't judge

Catalys, the crucible,
We are each a nation - independent, free of all weakness.

So yeah it's the worst ending

And OP you don't wan't the worst ending

Step 1: disconnect your Xbox 360 from the internet. This will keep you from getting MP bonuses.
Step 2: proceed to actively avoid getting war assets.  Also, proceed to actively make choices that will deplete war assets (give the PTSD Asari the gun, make the Citadel take in all refugees, encourage the sale of guns to everyone everywhere, etc).  If Wrex is still alive, betray him.  If Tali is still alive, choose the Geth.  Do not help Miranda with anything.  Ignore Grissom Academy.  Kill the Virmire Survivor during the coup.  Etc.

It also helps if you import a Failshep save.

You should know better than to ask a genuine ems/ending related question on BSN. Too many trolls.

But yes, disconnecting is the only way, also, you should look at the thread "Worst possible War Assets Score (Spoilers Ahoy)". It will help a lot

For me at least, on Xbox, if I do not hit 'X' on the war assets thing in the war room, my game doesn't count my multiplayer points.

Example... I have 1900 EMS, I hit X to view the galaxy at war screen showing readiness percents, then X again to go back to where I can read about my Alliance, Ex-Cerberus etc, *now my EMS goes to 3000+, having now added my N7 numbers to my total.

Edited title to avoid more of this.   Don't get me wrong folks- I'm no positivity crusader.   I don't have Citadel and if anything I thought the game wasn't dark enough.  And I think people are out of their minds to expect that ME3 will ever be discussed without complaints about the ending coming up.  But it's too bad that players continue to snipe at each other over the individual choices.  Every player who finished the game was put in an absurd situation (even putting StarJar, science and story aside, Shep became very, very stupid.  I like to imagine her, assuming she lived in Destroy, talking to Hackett or her LI afterwards.  Hackett:  That decision couldn't have been easy.  I assume the Catalyst was blocking communication?  If you'd been able to call us, maybe the team could have altered the crucible to spare the Geth and Edi, or at least we could have giving the Geth some warning...maybe they could have protected themselves, made safe backups...  Shep: Maybe he was, but I didn't even try.  Hackett:  Oh.  Uhh... It's strange that if he was serious about finding another solution he didn't stop the attacks, let you get your wounds looked at, put together proper peace talks.  What did he say?  Shep:  Maybe the reapers couldn't stop once they started.  I dunno, I didn't ask.) with carefully balanced horrors attached to each choice.  So don't hate the player.  Sorry for the sermon.  As you were...

I'm on PC, but I've noticed this too.  Although most of the time it will apply the % prepared, but not the N7 until I check the map.  I'm just worried that this isn't reliable and the score will be applied mid-game, making me replay London again.  I'll have to at least be sure to disconnect before Earth.
