When we're logged in, our status, achievements and whatnot are updated in our profile.
[umm, ok, "who has teh biggest ****" game]
What else?
To tell it differently:
What are the differences between online beings and a guy, who buys a game and goes to Tundra w/out internet for two years to play the game?

Edit: Oh right, the topic
The social site provides people with an easy way to get in touch with others in the community and is an enormous help to those planning on making their own projects/modules.

I tend to see forums as separate instance. so, besides forums, there's no real bonuses per se, i guess!?Servant of Nature wrote...
You don't 'get' anything for playing online for your achievements to show, as far as I know. It'll just update it for people to see, if you don't want that or don't care, don't log on.

Like others have said, this site is geared towards providing Bioware gamers a social network in which to interact with their fellow gamers with, well, anything really. This place is going to be so much more than just a forum.

For example, on the forums it shows what games you have registered. Cool, nice to see what games people own, but this place possibly allows to expand on that even further by showing what you've done in your game, or whatever little tidbits there are. Not just Dragon Age, but future games as well? That's how I see it at least. And the whole mod central thing... there's even a page to fill out your modding resume!

In other words, this will be the most important site ever for the DA:O community. And possibly for every Bioware community in the future.

Well, if a guy takes two years to play the game, it's kind of pathetic.

If the serious game mod community actually uses this site to upload their mods, as opposed to congregating at a fansite (as tends to happen with mod communities), that will be another important function for anybody who wants to create mods or just download em. I guess that depends on how much support there is here, and how many restrictions (on stuff like adult content in mods).

It is a great way for them to test the ability of putting together teams with member all over the globe and judge how these teams can work together.
