My first character was an un-specialised mage & he auto equipped the litany after I recieved it, but none of my other characters can equip it. Even though it's in my inventory.

I had the same thing happen to me on my first playthrough, (my Human Noble). Since he couldn't use it because he had no magical talent, I found it in Wynne's 'wheel' during the battle. Just have her or any other magic-wielder in your party use it when the party gets started.

It shouldn't matter if your character is your mage or not. My rogue character is able to use it. It wasn't auto-equipped though. I had to go to the advanced section and hotkey it myself.

I had no trouble on my first playthrough as a dwarf rogue

hmm, never had an issue using it at all. either hotkeying or using it through the radial.

Sometimes using it does not store in the attack queue so it doesn't fire off or an enemy attack can knock it off (which was most often the case with me). I had problems using it with Leliana during the fight but each other member of my party could use it. That is Alistair and Wynne and my own character.

i never had any problem with my rogue main character using it--when Wynne says, "use the litany" during the battle, i brought out the click wheel and there it was, so i tried using it, and it worked.

It should always been in the ADVANCE que on the quick select wheel (L2).  That option usually holds any "quest-related" item needing to be used in combat.

I just got fed up with it and killed everybody. Hopefully my next character works. Thanks
