I do not think there will be any spoilers here, and I saw no forum for suggestions.

Anyway, I have to start of with saying that MY GOD what a good job you guys did on this game. The story, and the multitude of paths avalible is just amazing.

That being said, there where some points of design-decision I really could not stand behind.

As one of the now old-time-gamers I understand where those decisions came from, and I know some protect them like they would a child... but

1.
I cannot understand why there is no way to redistribute your level-point allocation. I am not even going to argue as to why before I get the flames, it is easier to do it when the arguments against it is present.

Also, something that irks me when I cannot redistribute points, is that that information on spells are so mysterious. The gamer will never know what spell is good for what untill they try them out in the game. This is a big problem since even though all spells might be balanced and equall in gameing-ease so to speak, it still is a problem for those that realizes that that particular spell does not suit their playstyle. Now, proper information on spells is a large portion of difficult to read text, that could be introduced into the game as a npc-teacher or something. But this work simply is not worth the pay-off. Easier to just simply allow re-spec.

personal note: I did 9 mages of a merridium of 20h each before I was happy with the result. And I still have not done all the conscript quests in the game for the mage I am currently playing.

2.
When playing a character in a battle, I love the 360 controller and the quickspell slotts. I have to say that as action goes, this is the best mage I have ever played. Blink is the only spell I am missing, really. But since it has already been stated in DAO that magical travel is impossible, I guess I wont argue for it.

However, there are several spells I would not use all the time, but I really need some times. Since I like using spells instead of the staff, I need the "smaller" spells like winters grasp, stone-fist, and lightning and such to take up alot of the quick spell slots. This is also true for my rogue and his talents.

Thankfully there is one button not used att all. Right trigger and A button combination is unused as I see it. What if that combination allowed us to swith between talent-set-ups much like the two weapon-set-ups. A left to right cycle between 3 to 5 setups (if needed, I have not done the math) wich would truly allow us all the spells we want as quik-spell-slottet.

I can understand why PC players do not see the point in this. But for us 360 players the pause action is mostly useless beyond navigating through menues to reach your talents and potions. And unneccessary (sp?) breaks in the game just kills the mood in my opinion. True, leave the pause system there though, since it is an rpg and not a true action-rpg. Some players will want the time to evaluate the situation, and I get that, I truly do. However, forcing the rest of us to pause the action when it really is not necessary, is something I cannot support.

Looks... most of it is fine, I would like the Dalish ears for the elves, but it is not something I will fight for. I dont understand the why of it is not there for the character creation, but hey, I did not programm this master-piece.

What I cannot understand however are the butt-ugly head-gear. The early mage-cones of a hat are simply ridiculus. I imagine that they looked cool in concept art, perhaps even when the game-models where created. But they are just embarassing from the back of a player. And since that is what we see 99% of the time, I chose not to wear them and sodd the benefits. I always chose Arcane warrior simply so I could use a few of the heavy armor headgear. I did not use anything else as a arcane warrior, including the talents (since they would not fitt on my quick-talent selection). For a short time, I did use the ancient elven breast-plate. And even though it did look cool, the benefits of a mage-robe could not outmatch the good looks. I am a nerd, but not that much.

4.
selection of items. To me, there should always be atleast one Master Item for each of the major character paths. Something that as a bloodmage-healer you will just wet your pants for finding. And I have to say that arcane warrior was sadly left in the dust. Either you had to forego all mage-attacks, or watch as the added time to sheath the sword made your character near useless.

Additional stuff. The staves should not be the first and end all weapon for the mages. I always prefer empty hands and a dagger at my side. It is cosmetic I know. But since I rarely allow time for shooting with the staff, I would not miss that action in the least. As I see it, I forego the larger more damaging spells (which would drain my mana, allowing for the use of the staff) and instead uses ALOT of the smaller spells mentioned earlier. Perhaps a dagger or shortsword would be the weapon of choice for those mages, since you could put magical benefits on them that raised the dmg or mana-pool. You would not have a dmg option if your mana ran out however, so it would be a decision of the player. But I can understand if you choose not to. This last part is just a suggestion though.

5. Please do not complicate. The potion-creation, poison-creation, weapon-enchantment are fine like they are. Perhaps some enchantment for mages is all that is missing. But I would be happy just to see that for DA2 that you just leave them as they are. They are just the right amount of complicated and time-consuming for it to work. It is fun to play around with, usefull for saving money on potions, but not to big a bother to forego. I love the systems.

Also the automated actions for your partymemebers are as near genius as anything in a game can be. For player controlled party members (especially the magical ones) they are a god-sent. I use wynn mostly for healing and when not fighting with NPC allies, she casts viruelt walking bomb, and cone of cold. True, I would like an option to limit the amount of partymembers she freeses (Do not use when attacking more than one partymemeber).

I would also like to see some combat-roll talents for the rogues, perhaps a quickstepp that takes you into backstabb position of your current target. Perhaps even a stay here option so the rogue can make more use of his/her hide in shadows ability. I have not yet played around with the pick-pocket skill. But that will come soon

Flame me, contradict me, support me, or whatever. But please do not declare me an idiot. I hope this is not the WoW forums, they where ridiculus even before the game was released. And I have not really been on any forums since then, save the ME forums.

Best regards: Mr Blue Berry

Oh, also, I do not enjoy that the game distributes points for a party-member before they join the group. This forces them into a role not chosen by me. I would have liked to bring Leliana with me, but she was specked for bows, which did not suit my group at all... And Zevran could not open a lock to save his life. Also other comrades where trained in potionmaking and other need to have skills that other partymemebers already excelled at. This was most irritating when it came to the mages, since they are EXTREAMLY dependant on the Tactics slots, and all surpluss skillpoints HAVE to go there. In my opinion, a really bad move. This is still a large part an action game, and not a pen and paper. Let us make as many decisions as we want to. Re-spec for god's sake.

Also, a problem I found in the Codex as a 360 gamer. after it fills, it is impossible to se what entries are new, since scrolling through them deleates the NOT-READ highlight.

A simple a-button press to have it mark-as-read would solve this problem.

He's playing on Xbox 360, in case you didn't notice.

Oh, I especially agree on the Codex btw, could be done better on PS3 as well (right analog for scrolling).
