How to stop Squad from teleporting?

Yes I'm aware they "come back to life" at the end of the fight, but I'm really really really tired of my squad teleporting to my location only to get themselves killed. Plus they always make me jump (ergo causing Shepard to move out of cover) when they scream "HOSTILES SPOTTED!!" I know hostiles were spotted! I"m shooting at them! Shoot at the ones charging at us from behind idiots!!!
So how do I get them to stop teleporting to my location and stay in the cover that I put them?

A great way to keep your squadmates alive is to draw Aggro towards you. You can do this by getting close to the enemy mob and placing squadmates somewhere out of the way.

Also, in ME2 (there was a post on this that I cannot find), each map has "zones". When you move from one zone to another, the squad will teleport to you. A good example of this is on Garrus's loyalty mission. Just before the fight with the two YMIR mechs, you can place your squad in cover, but as soon as you move to the spot where it triggers the mech fight, the squad teleports behind you. This is because you changed "zones".
Follow known_hero's suggestion and try to place your squad in cover behind you. Enemies in ME2 will target the enemy closest to them, whether it be you, a squadmate, a Combat Drone, or a hacked/dominated enemy.

It should also be noted that squadmates will teleport to you if you get too far away.

If you play the game enough you will be adept at positioning them so this does not occur.
