I don't believe it's supposed to be taken literally - hence the title.

Whilst Mass Effect is, effectivly, a Military Sci-Fi saga, as a result of the large, ever-expanding fanbase its developed and now maintains a somewhat-frivilous, 'Space Opera' edge more akin to a television series - which is why you see moments like those in the Citadel DLC.

Quite an interesting analysis of why the saga has developed as it has. I have to concede, I kind of liked the Star Trek feel of the first Mass Effect in that it was very much so about exploring the background of the races, their culture and history and also about literally going to the final frontier of space. It had an amusing camp feel to it but still retained a powerful story with some interesting twists.

Perhaps no future ME will ever reclaim that refined and overwhelmingly ambitious tone again, simply because it is so entrenched in a comfortable fanbase, and has diluted its story to pander to a more financially secure audience of GOW fanboys that it doesn't feel the need to explore those races it so delicately created previously.

As far as personal canon goes, I'm filing this in the same drawer as the plot to Mass Effect: Deception.

No reason to take it seriously, fortunately, as it's a blatant contradiction of this scene: http://www.youtube.c...Sg07low7c#t=32s

Joker could hardly have given Anderson that talk if this happened.

"He Who Laughs Best" must be referring to me, laughing at this hilarious joke of a comic.

Is this a joke? I mean, I liked the previous ME comics, but this is terrible.

I'd say that the concept's a bit silly, but nothing worth getting upset over.

"Invectus"? I let "Victus" slide, but come on. Just name somebody Sol Invictus already.

For the record, that's evoking "Invective," not "Unconquered."

The scenario is preposterous. You steal a military vessel, you get courtmartialed, probably dishonorably discharged. It'd be like the beginning of Mass Effect 3. (Would have happened in the beginning of 2, probably, if Shepard hadn't saved the Citadel by that act of mutiny.)

It's even worse that the "give that guy a medal" character is a Turian, not a human. Military movies will occasionally pull that kind of nonsense, but it wouldn't fly in our actual military, and the Turian military is supposedly even less tolerant. General Victus is supposed to be an exception to the rule of Turian military decorum.

This.

So is his job now to butcher our favourite characters until the new Mass Effect IP is released?
I admit reading it the first time I found it quite charming but it wasn't until i'd read it that I saw Macs name on the cover.
After that all I could see were all the tiny mac-butcherisations after re-reading.

Also joker has some bearded woman kinda thing going on in that last page, geez.
If somebody removed the beard that would literally be a woman.
