In this case, Varric is being completely honest with her, a side of himself he never shows, not even to Hawke.

Something occurred to me today guys. It was a "Ah ha!" moment. There are no female dwarf romances that we know of right? But that can't mean a male dwarf Inquisitor isn't getting ANY love right? Sooooo that means Bioware had to have done unique dwarf animations for his romances (since all the ladies on the team are taller!). So what does that mean? It means hypothetically these animations could be applied to Varric also. It means it's possible that he won't necessarily be dwarf only on account of his height. Just a thought.

 

I'm pretty sure that in DA2 Varric says he doesn't like humans romantically. I have a hard time envisioning him with anyone but a dwarf. I honestly hope he isn't an LI at all, but if he ends up as one I hope its female dwarf only. (I'm saying this as someone who doesn't even want to play a dwarf)

I am hoping that Varric said that as a way to gentle his lack of interest in Hawke in that manner and in reality he was just not interested in Hawke because quite frankly I am most interested in romancing him.

Of course, Varric is full of s**t most of the time and he seems OK with the services of the Blooming Rose, so maybe he just wasn't into Hawke.

And he dated a dwarf woman but bitched about it because she tried to get him killed or something...

I just think Varric is old fashioned and doesn't sleep with women who probably will get him killed.

Varric has admitted to being someone who lies a lot, so imo there is still hope for different race romance if he is a LI! But  of course if he is female dwarf only thats fine too

You see I'm a little biased. Dwarves were my favorite race in DA:O and it hurt a little to learn that such a smaller percentage of the playerbase chose to play as one. So anything that encourages players to maybe try out my favorite unappreciated race, say, by giving dwarves a race exclusive romance makes the little devil on my shoulder very happy  

 

Of course then the angel on the other shoulder points out that that's a terrible reason to want something to be race exclusive, and shame on me for being gratified by the thought. At which point I have to concede that she has a point.

Hmm... I had forgotten about that, interesting. It sounds like his big objection was that she was a psychopath from the merchants guild, not that he didn't want to date anyone at all. He did admit to finding her easy on the eyes. I'm probably reading too much into it but this conversation does sound promising.

Ever since I've heard Varric was a companion in DAI , I've been afraid of this.

Quite frankly I think if he dies no matter what , it would be a low blow.
