If Varric ends up being the Mordin/Legion of DAI I will probably have a minor mental breakdown and cry for half an hour. I had to leave the room and hug my cat for ten minutes after Mordin died.

What's worse, Varric will die taking a hit for the Inquisitor. He always knew he should tell the stories, not be in them. Hawke and the Inquisitor were too good of an example for him.

To elaborate, that was the single hardest thing I'd ever had to do in a video game was to put Garrus on that transport and run on without him. Also, that looks a lot like my FemShep, but it's not my footage.

Since he wanted nothing really to do with his fellow dwarves/ traditions, I would have a pyre for him with bianca on his chest and burn them together! Varric and bianca till death and beyond!

None of the previous games have had mandatory companion deaths, I see no reason they would start now. Especially since they're emphasizing choice so much.
Are companions going to be able to die? No doubt. But if they made those deaths unavoidable, it'd be a major misstep.
Note- three of the people I listed are NPCs this time around.

prologue companions dont count - they always die

Anders' actions are understandable, and Meredith and Orsino are relatable. Carver is the true villain of that game.
