I have to doubt that he'd be into dwarves only as a romance. And if he is only for dwarves, I would have to wonder of the work/reward balance of making him straight only.

I don't think it's really comparable to ptsd, since people don't get addicted to ptsd. I think it might be more of a sort of crippling drug addiction if we're comparing it to anything.

Yeah, I've had plenty of male friends in my lifetime. A majority of them weren't into me at all.
I am usually a fan of dorfies (my first DAO playthrough was one of the Dwarf origins) but I might try for femQunari for a change.
I think he'll be a romance option for dwarves while Iron Bull can be romanced by qunari, human and elf!Quizzies. If I'm right, though, he'll most likely be bi. Would anyone have a problem with that? I wouldn't, but I know some people were bothered by Anders being a LI for both genders when he only expressed an interest in girls in Awakening.
I certainly won't have issues if he's bi and race-restricted, as long as my Cadash can romance him!

That's alright I'm sure Aimo's other "one size fits all" pic has been posted everywhere about a billion times, so it's cool.
You know come to think of it, Varric's gotta either be BI or spread out to other races if he is an LI, I mean I've always only pictured him with a female dwarf but that's an awful lot of writing for a romance that'll only be accessible by about 1.25% of people.
Also I noticed that Varric's been removed from most of the fun parties, they called one of his teams "Grim Determination" in the twitter thread. I'm not sure whether this says something about what Varric will be like in this game, or what our other companions will be like. Could just be that we have a lot more fun people this time around, or it could be that Varric's gotten a good deal more solemn since DA:II. I wouldn't mind either circumstance. Unlike Anders we actually got to see some of Varric's character development in DA:II and the comics, him turning into a more solemn character feels far more natural, and won't make me love him any less.

Yeah, Varric wasn't allowed anywhere near that in my main game, though I'm a little bit worried about what he'll be like around Red Lyrium in this game... I usually don't like benching companions, especially companions I'm fond of, but Varric might be getting a few days off whenever a Red Templar mission pops up.
Though, then again, my Inquisitor might not know about his weakness to red lyrium, she might take him along figuring he'd be more useful useful against Templars than the mage companions.

Because no matter how cool Varric and my Inquisitor are as a duo of destruction, Varric and my Hawke were brothers from different mothers.

I just realized that Brian Bloom does the voice of the male trooper in SWTOR.
I think that might just be reason enough to revisit that game.
He's so popular I imagine if they wanted to make him a LI they'd make him available to as many people as possible. I tend to take him saying he's not into humans with a grain of salt. He lies a lot, and they did have the, "Don't worry, I didn't tell her about us," line, which while cut, suggest they were thinking about it. He's so popular I imagine if they didn't make him a LI they'd have to buy a fortifed island covered in razor wire and bear traps to keep rioting fans away.

I'm willing to be the new OP of the Varric thread...but...I am going on vacation for two weeks in August where the only internet access I'll have is over my phone...so I don't know if I'm the best choice.
