Not gonna lie, that was probably the highlight of the demo. :S

As someone in the audience of the demo, I must say that frostbite and good old fashioned hard work have combined to elevate his already impressive chestly mane to a lush carpet of follicular manliness. The photo simply does not do it justice.

With this talk of templars using red lyrium to grow more powerful, it occurs to me that the reason Varric may be involved with the Inquisition is because he feels responsible for unleashing it on the world. After all, no one would even know about red lyrium if he and his brother hadn't discovered the Primeval Thaig.

This is why he seems despondent in the demo after the Red Templars destroy Crestwood; it's a direct consequence of his actions.

I just hope they tweak his look somewhat before release. Give him back his dirty blonde hair and give him more of his old 'devilish swashbuckling rogue'-look instead of the way he looks now... which is more 'concerned and handsome'...

I know some people will prefer this new look, especially those who want to (presumably) romance him, but to me, part of what made Varric Varric was his kind of 'furrowed eyebrows, I'm a badass and don't take things too seriously'-look. I think what really stands out as having changed are the eyebrows and the eyes. The eyes look a bit 'dead' to me now in Inqusition, and as I said, the eyebrows should be more furrowed.

Just my two cents. Still very happy to get Varric back as a companion.
