Denial looks like a pretty vacation spot to visit until we know for sure. Got any extra room for another Varric lover? It beats sitting where I am.

See, with the 9 we have pictured, I don't see reason they can't ALL be LIs. They're not underage, animals, or genetically related to the inquisitor. I'm okay with some of them ending sadly, like the Grey Warden needing his calling, if some of them end happy and it always seems natural to the character.
With Varric, I'm okay with being pushed away. Something like:
Varric: I can't...Bianca...
Inquisitor: Your crossbow?
Varric: No, there was a girl...and I made a promise...
Either the relationship can be continued, or it Avelines. Someone had a picture of Bianca apparently from the comics, and an implication she's still around. So I'm okay with Varric not Jacobing her as long as we get to see that payoff, too.
I'm still going to play the game, I'm just going to be disappointed. It happens.

As much as I like Varric, I don't want him as a LI unless it's only locked to dwarfs because it was already established in DA2 he is only into dwarfs when it comes to romance, hoping for another awesome bromance though.
Varric is a Walking Fan Service, theres a pretty big chance he'll get his love interest time. he loves Bianca, but Lost her as well.
Or at least just mention Bianca directly and stop with referring to his crossbow? If it's a lost love, we can deal with it. Just be straight with us, and at least tell us why a perfectly attractive dwarf (Lady Cadash, reporting in!) would be off limits in the wake of someone he hasn't seen in at least 10-12 years or so.

There's a reason he gets along best with sarcastic!Hawke, the two of them deal with their feelings the same way; by shutting them in and distracting everyone with jokes and wisecracks. That's also why any romance with him, if one exists, will probably be rather difficult to navigate.

He could be like Javik. If certain interactions are met, something happens between them, but instead of complimenting the inquisitor, Varric mentions Bianca and says it can never happen again. I could live with that.

I'd kinda prefer if that "something" is rather chaste, with Varric mentioning that he really and honestly can't go further with a relationship. A one night stand would make me feel all dirty. Varric may be quite a bit of a flirt, but I can't see him going that far with someone he knows is interested in him romantically, that kind of thing leads to complicated emotions and hurt feelings, which, as I said in an earlier post, is not something Varric likes to deal with.
That said, I bet the devs probably did put a "Javik" scene in there somewhere. They predicted in DA:II that some players would want to flirt with Varric, they're definitely at the very least going to have a scene in which he turns the Inquisitor down.

If we can't have a fully fledged romance, I'm hoping we at least get something Aragorn/Eowyn esque. "It is but a shadow and a thought that you love. I cannot give you what you seek." I dunno, not so poetic, but along the lines of being able to love her fully if he wasn't hung up on Bianca.

And this I can deal with. I can see him feeling guilty the more he gets close, I can see talks about how he feels being awkward and difficult. Most of all I want a romance that suits Varric as a character , if that makes him the toughest one to romance in the game then I can live with that.

It would probably start out with a lot of semi-sarcastic flirting, but as you go deeper you'd have to figure out when to be silly and sarcastic, and when to be serious and honest. Go too far one way an he'd take it all as a joke, go too far the other way and he'd scared off. Quite the balancing act.

I'm sorry, I keep going back several pages to find where this quote is from, but I can't seem to find it. Who answered this question? Are they a writer?
I don't even know who I would romance instead of Varric... maybe the beardy Warden? If this is a definite no on Varric, I'll be so crushed. I wish they'd just reveal all the LIs already.
