EA is getting hit hard financially? Source?

As I understood it, they actually improved last quarter.

As for the topic, It's been slightly over two years since the release of DA ][. It's too "late" for EA to rush DA:I out. Rushing it out would have been March this year.

Depends on your definition of "rushing," of course.

Can't comment on EAs' financial situation, but I did find these links which suggest something's wrong..

Dragon Age: Origins..with slightly over 2 years of development still were going to be seriously rushed.

Whaaaat? o.o

I remember my first time playing DA:O and seeing the battle of Ostagar (specificaly seeing the hungry prisonner in the cage before it) and being like "wait a minute! I know this game! I've seen this dude in this cage years ago! I know I can even stab him!" *uses murder knife for the first time* yay!

DA:O was in dev for eons even I know that and I didnt follow the developpement closely.

But DA2 on the other hand was rushed and felt rushed even if I'm still amazed sometimes in the number of possible outcomes of a quest depending on which party member is with you (hat's some good quality work there).

anyways thanks Chris for saying that I'll wait and see until DA3 release.

The last time I heard anything news about Dragon Age 3 was that it's not coming out this year, I believe Chris actually mentioned that in another thread if you have doubts, If I had to guess it'll come out sometime next fall with a current gen release and possibly a release for the next gen.

Sheesh. You just need to look at the recycled dungeons to see how rushed DA2 was.

I just laughed. Out loud. So hard. Especially at the little bit after the quote.

Yea, that's...  unfortunate.

It seems pretty promising that DA:I will not be rushed out the door. Doesn't mean it will be good.

I mean, I have my fingers crossed that it will be exceptional but I'm not very optimistic. I'm rooting for you Bioware, albeit grudgingly. (Still feeling the sting of ME3, makes it hard sometimes.)

I hope you mean Endings of ME3 because gameplay wise its the perfection of its genre.

Yeah, I'm rooting for Bioware as well, though perhaps its not so much rooting as its just hoping.

After 4 years of what the hell(starting with the small changes in Awakening), I'm just...

I expect ME 3 to shadow Bioware for quite a while. DA 2 was just a over hyped sub par sequel. Those fade away. But for ME I imagine that will take longer to erode.

Yes, the endings.

The combat was icing on the cake and frankly, Id sacrifice all those gameplay improvements if it meant a better resolution to the trilogy.

Priestly's shown a bit of salesman's optimism, but I'd take his word over Jarrett Lee or anyone else in PR or marketing.

classy attacks on people's credibility as usual.  You all see something being "rushed" whereas I see bloat.  DAII should have been a smaller game that matched the smaller development window. Most of the "rushed" complaints regarding it are related to padding content, not that it was released unfinished.

Well, Inon Zur did say he was rushed to complete the soundtrack.

That helps the "It was rushed" argument even further.

Still doesn't mean it wasn't rushed.

In addition, it isn't the first time Priestly lies on the forum.

Attention to detail (and blatant nitpicking) is what seperates the amazing from the par.

EA just got their hands on star wars games license, hopefully they will be too busy ruining another games than DA 3.

How about the rest of the team who've repeatedly acknowledged that they did the best they could with the limited time they had (inside the office, it's said to have been as little as 18 months from start to finish)?

Chris is simply without credibility on this issue. His assurance here is meaningless (even if it happens to more closely align with reality this time).

Yep, and I understand that. Back when I was part of the EA Marketing team when DA2 was in development, I pretty much had to toe the line for the people in charge. Now that I am part of the BioWare Online/Community team, I am working to rebuild trust with fans. I know this means little to you out there, but internally, it does have a difference.

It is part of the reason I post on the BSN less now. I want to be much less the heavy handed banhammer guy and become a guy liek any other member of the Dev team that when I say something, it can be believed (or at least debated rationally). I know there is work to do to build or rebuild trust with fans. Hopefully, when DA3 does come out and it isn't rushed, people will quote me and start to see me as more believeable.
