Major Toolset newb Q:
I recently re-bought NWN2 from GOG.com and am very interested in learning the toolset. For some reason when I lay down textures they look fine in the actualy toolset but when I go to run the module the only texture displayed is the major "filled" texture....what gives? I'm sure it something incredibly simple.

Which video card do you have, nVidia or Ati? There is a driver bug that can cause texture issues. One workaround is making sure you actually use all 6 textures you can in a tile area (they can be at 1% so no one will see them).

It actually sounds like you haven't baked the area. You need to bake the area before any terrain changes will be visible in game.

I've got an nVidia, I'll have to try using all 6 textures.
Tchos: I'm very new but I did bake the area. I saw somewhere else that you can make a copy of the area and then delete the previous one to fix it but that didn't work either.
I'm glad to see there is still support for this game even though it's pretty old

Just tried the 6 texture thing and that did it! Thanks!
I can remember back when I was fooling around with the first Neverwinter toolset probably 8-9 years ago, there was a tutorial that basically walked you through step-by-step and creating a very small module with 2 areas, NPCs, merchants, a small quest and all the little pieces and parts that are in typical RPGs. I was wondering if there was a similar tutorial like that out. Almost all of the ones I've found are more references as opposed to a toolset walk-through. I learned so much from that old tutorial.

Yes, there's a step-by-step guide with a sample module to examine, called Uninvited Guests. You can access the tutorial in the toolset just by selecting "Help" from the Help menu. It opens an HTML file with screenshots explaining all of the things that went into making the sample quest module (which comes with the game, and should already be installed). The same content is mirrored here: http://www.cs.helsin...oolsethelp.html
There are also a few guides online that I found, but I haven't tried those:

And this is the one that got me started: Gilthonym's Don't Panic! toolset tutorials.

Some recent Nvidia cards (like mine) really don't like the surface normals in outdoor textures in this game. I've found that you need at least five textures per terrain tile to guarantee not to see the texture bugs. Just using one texture also prevents it (but doesn't look anywhere near as pretty).
