Studio teams Dice and Visceral will also produce games. Hopefully this means another Old Republic Star Wars game from Bioware or maybe one set further in the future

I'm surprised they signed up with Electronic Arts after The Old Republic sank.

Guess this means we will be seeing a huge increase of "KOTOR 3" and Battlefront threads :D

I would say that was more due to the MMO market being oversaturated as well as the paid subscription model being superceded by the Free to play model. TOR had a lot of interesting features but in the current MMO market it can be hard to keep a userbase with so many new MMO's being released as well as the stranglehold games like WOW already have.  Pretty impressed they are still running as many other MMO's have come and gone since TOR was released.

I would like to see Bioware take on an RPG that takes place hundreds of years after the events of Return of The Jedi

I felt a great disturbance in the force, as if millions of voices cried out in terror and were suddenly silenced. I fear something terrible has happened.

Breaking into the MMO genre is always a gamble.

Hopefully, this will give Bioware another chance to do a single-player Star Wars RPG. Bioware and Star Wars go together like peanut butter and chocolate. I don't even care at this point if its a direct sequel to KOTOR or not (it probably won't be). I'm just excited at the prospect of them getting to play in that world some more.

Also, a Battlefront successor from DICE and an adventure game from Visceral don't sound too shabby either. Even if your an EA hater, you have to admit this is good news for Star Wars fans. We haven't had a steady stream of AAA Star Wars games since early last decade.

Ehh it should be noted disney wants more of cheaper made app games.

EA just fired a LOT of people to do just that.

So I'm not holding my breath on anything big.

More so that Bioware will be the one doing it. EA owns more studios than that.

We will see about that. It may sound good now that certain games withn the Star Wars franchise such as Republic Commando, KoTOR and Battlefront now have a chance but I see another Sims, 2,3 and 4 happening. Hollow "expansion" packs that could of been shipped with the main game but sold off as a full priced game instead.

She is only looking for someone to love her. Shame she won't find it here. Used and abused then kicked to the curb once again, the cycle will continue.

Envisioned a sequel to Republic Commando, my eyes grew bright before dimming as I realize it'll just be a reskinned Battlefield.

Which is a damn shame. Republic Commando brought something new to the SW universe.

Maybe a real KotOR game? One that I can play on my own and savor at my own pace like an epic novel wrapped in the savory flavor of Star Wars bacon?

No?

Oh... More Old Republic expansions... I see.

No, thanks.

At least I have Mass Effect to kinda fill that void! ...oh wait. You ruined that... I forgot.

****!

Kotor 2 and 1 Remake PLEASE. And A proper Kotor 3, Retcon Revan Novel. Make it a bad dream that Revan is having and having Revan make a Kyle Katarn joke.

Revan: oh **** that is a bad dream, why in the bloody hell is Kyle Katarn dressed up as me?

BattleFront 3... My hopes and dreams are all gone.

"Our number one objective was to find a developer who could consistently deliver our fans great Star Wars games for years to come," said Kathleen Kennedy, President of Lucasfilm. "When we looked at the talent of the teams that EA was committing to our games and the quality of their vision for Star Wars, the choice was clear."

Please... no...

How about they turn SWTOR into an action/RPG since it didn't work as an MMO

Read the press release closer. EA is responsible for the console "core gamer audience" games, while Disney Interactive will be heading up the social and mobile games.

They specifically name dropped Bioware, Visceral, and DICE. I think we can expect some big budget console games to come out of this deal.

As someone who stopped playing SWTOR die to having a crappy Internet connection, I would love to see a console release of SWTOR'S single player content. I would play the hell out of that.

It was never there in the first place. Obsidian considered making a Star Wars game set between Episode III and IV, not in The Old Republic era.
