The exclusivity part of this kills me.

I was hoping with Lucasarts getting shuttered, we'd see a bunch of different developers able to try their hand at making a variety of different kinds of Star Wars games in different genres. Now that EA has it on lockdown, this likely means no Obsidian KotOR 3 and no potential TIE Fighter games(not that there necessarily were any on the horizon anyway, but it could have been possible). Probably just more dialogue wheel BioWare Star Wars games, Battlefront from DICE to alternate years with Battlefield and Visceral making some action game. They might be fine games but I'd like to see other people get a chance. Never mind it would be nice for EA to keep doing new IPs, but I have a feeling they'll simply fall back on Star Wars if any new IP doesn't meet expectations. Doesn't get any more risk averse than Star Wars these days.

the dialog wheel sounds awesome to me especially if it lets me do some great kills and other cool things during conversation like force lightning a character.  Having a branching dialog wheel is much better than picking from a long list of things to say it makes the screen less cluttered and helps make it look nicer

I'm surprised they signed up with Electronic Arts after The Old Republic sank.

The Old Republic sank for more reasons than "EA being EA".

I'm betting they will be cheesy movie tie-in games to go with the new Star Wars trilogy planned. I doubt we'll see a proper KOTOR 3.

And the dreams of Kotor 3 by Obsidian fade.

It was never there in the first place. Obsidian considered making a Star Wars game set between Episode III and IV, not in The Old Republic era.

Indeed -- And what shame that it'll most likely never happen now.

If all they make is movie license games... :crying: Waste. Such a waste.

Frankly, I am not sure if this is a good thing or a bad thing, but I am leaning towards bad. Call me biased.

Fabulous! I've always felt like every Star Wars game I've ever played was missing that special something, but now I realize what it was! Microtransactions, day 1 DLC and a forced always online component! I just know the first game you guys make after this deal is gonna be great, shut up and take my money.

We will see about that. It may sound good now that certain games withn the Star Wars franchise such as Republic Commando, KoTOR and Battlefront now have a chance but I see another Sims, 2,3 and 4 happening. Hollow "expansion" packs that could of been shipped with the main game but sold off as a full priced game instead.

Envisioned a sequel to Republic Commando, my eyes grew bright before dimming as I realize it'll just be a reskinned Battlefield.

Which is a damn shame. Republic Commando brought something new to the SW universe.

I recently started to play that game again and got reminded how awesome it is. LucasArts had plans to make a seguel "Imperial Commando" but it never went through.

We'll see how it goes. EA doesn't exactly have an awful track record with Star Wars games, but those successes are about a decade in the past.

So we'll be fine if everyone in EA gets 10 years younger.

Well there goes my hope that I'll get a new RTS by Creative Assembly. Still I look forward to what ever comes from this.

The Madden deal with the NFL was a blessing for all involved. So long as you weren't paying money for Madden games, it was super bad for those people.

Please give us KOTOR 3 or a new IP that still uses the Wizards of the Coast rules.

I'm alright with this. Which is odd since I hate EA, but I love BioWare and I think Star Wars goes really hand-in-hand with what they do (I loved SWTOR, played all 8 classes). So the potential for BioWare to make some single-player BioWare-stye games is exciting. As is BioWare getting out of their current funk of only doing Mass Effect and Dragon Age stuff ad-nauseum for a decade.

This sounds a lot like the way Atari held the Dungeons and Dragons IP for a long time. Off of the top of my head, I can't think of another situation where EA has done something like this. They always inevitably end up owning the IPs they control. So its kind of unprecedented...not sure what to think.
