So.... Star Wars 1313.... Has a chance again.... Right..... Please?

Visceral does look like a good fit for it.

EA statement isn't terribly clear, is bioware making a new star wars game? is this the new IP they talked about? Or was it simply refering to swotor?

I'd much rather see bioware make a new kotor game, or any star wars game. Swotor had a great plot, but everything else just reminded about everything I hated in WOW. Piano playing gameplay, having to sit with a calculator trying to squeeze out another tenth of a percent of DPS out of all those skill points and trees...

Some might find my lack of faith disturbing.

I miss the days of the old X-Wing and TIE Fighter titles, plus the Jedi Knight series. Plus Republic Commando and Battlefront.

Dice could do it... In theory...

I'm already terrified about what Disney is going to do to the post-Jedi (even pre-Menace and 19 BBY-0 BBY) EU.

Do or do not, there is no theory.

My expectations on disney always low, so I don't get dissapointed, but damn it is star wars. Heart prepare yourself.

This.. isn't the "new IP" that we've been hearing about it is it? Because it's really going back to an old IP and after the KOTOR era we got ME so.. I'd prefer to see BW working on something of their own creation without being harassed by Lucasarts (or whatever it is now) along the way.

I feel a disturbance in the Force.

I believe Casey said the new IP is in a new universe.

Even so, the press release could be interpreted in two ways. They say Dice and Visceral are joining BioWare in Star Wars development, which either means they're referring to The Old Republic, which is still being updated regularly, or that BioWare was already working on a new Star Wars game under Casey's leadership. I wouldn't mind a new Star Wars game by BioWare Edmonton, since their last one was pretty good.

Rogue Squadron was also quite good.

Expect Kotor 3 by Xmas. 10 playable locations... all the same map, entered via different "space ports"... all with different combinations of conspicuously locked doors.

An innocent mistake, I'm sure... but a "new universe" wouldn't be Star Wars, technically.

So... many... conflicting emotions... I honestly don't know how I feel about this. EA screws up a lot but with DICE, Visceral, and BioWare working, I hope to see a return of Battlefront and a KotOR type games. I doubt this will happen. It will most likely just be a bunch of mediocre yearly releases that never do anything important, but I feel there is hope. At least for the time being that is.

I don't really care, tbh. My love for and interest in anything Star Wars has only been going down for the past decade or so...

The Madden deal with the NFL was a blessing for all involved. So long as you weren't paying money for Madden games, it was super bad for those people.

Ugh. Dammit, regardless of whether the NFL was the one pushing for exclusivity or not, that deal just sucks to this day. The days when you had 2K and Madden constantly trying to one up each other were outstanding for gamers. That kind of competition was just fantastic.

NFL 2k5 is still the best football game ever made.

Damn right it is. The competition is badly needed, as Madden is deathly stale.

For an RPG? Obsidian of course. I always found KotOR2 more enjoyable than KotOR, even with all the cut content. They could do wonders with a proper schedule!

For an Action/Adventure game? uhm...I don't know... maybe Rocksteady, as I really liked both Batman games. I guess Visceal could be a good choice, though: they already proved that they can do a good action game with Dead Space 2.

So many delicious tears in this thread.

Personally I've never really cared about anything Star Wars related besides the original film trilogy.

I loved Rogue Squadron, X-Wing, and Battlefront. The first Force Unleashed game was good too.

But with that they made one good game and proceeded to make a terribad one.

I didn't know about this. This is very interesting news. I think the chances of a Bioware Star Wars RPG are...maybe not likely, but definitely increased quite a bit.
