I'd hang up on Hackett like I did with the Council. Damn why do I have to talk to you before/after every little mission geez.

It was cool listening to Lance Henricksen's General Shepard's voice.

Did I forget to mention a Normandy airstrike on the Collector Ship while it was still parked on Horizon?

Two things: One, colonists are on the ship.  Two, the seeker swarms interfere with radio contact.

Plus, activating the defenses towers was just to scare the Collectors off of Horizon.  Not to destroy the ship.

Exactly, except the ship would have been scared off sooner, thus few colonists taken.

I'd had Garrus upgrade the main gun and Jacob upgrade the armor. So while that ship was parked, let's show our new teeth. Fire the main gun and blow it out of the sky. Okay the colonists were on the ship. They were as good as dead.

Illusive Man: "What the hell did you do? I was hoping to follow their trail."

Shepard: "Cut the crap. You know my history. Torfan. A nuke at Virmire. The Citadel."

Illusive Man: "True. Just think about the bigger picture next time."

Shepard: "I saved half the colony, and took out a Collector ship. We salvaged quite a bit of tech from the wreckage. I thought that was what you wanted."

Illusive Man: "And the colonists?"

Shepard: "Any that were on the ship are dead. An unfortunate sacrifice. We couldn't have saved them anyway. I ran into Chief Williams. She said the Alliance thought Cerberus was behind the attacks. I told her we just blew that ship away, otherwise the rest of the colony would be gone, and that we just saved her life."

Illusive Man: "Good. Now we wait. We need to see what the Collectors do for their next move, and we need to find a way through the Omega 4 relay. I sent some more dossiers to you. The Collectors are going to be more careful the next time. Good luck, Shepard."

EDIT:

Shepard: "Oh, and we did find this."

Illusive Man: "And that is?"

Shepard: "The Collector IFF. It's our way through the Omega 4 Relay, but I'm not installing it until we're damned good and ready to hit them where they live."

Illusive Man: "Shepard, this is why we brought you back. You get the job done, no matter the cost. Miranda had voiced her concerns, but I believed in you. You are proving me correct."

@Julia

Nice. I'm sure an IFF could be salvaged from the wreck of the Collector Cruiser anyway.

On Grunt's recruitment mission, the wounded merc?

Convince the guy that I'm investigating the Krogan cloning facility for suspicion that it's illegal research into a Genophage cure. And by "investigate," I mean "extract Okeer for interrogation and bomb the place from orbit." Point to Virmire as an example of how the Council deals with this kind of thing. Maybe Mordin can even "scan" a nearby Krogan body and "confirm" Genophage markers are absent to corroborate the cover.

The merc can tell his friends that it's up to them whether they want to be there or not when the shots come raining down. Cooperate, and they'll live. It'll keep the Blue Suns focused on containing the Krogan so Shepard can pass them without fighting.

Also, either skip Jack's recruitment mission or torch Purgatory after getting her out of there to ensure no escapes. "Billy" doesn't get to go on his stabbing spree.

You would kill the prettiest human girl in the whole Trilogy?!

All I know about Jack before her recruitment mission is that she (he?) is a convicted serial killer with vast biotic potential. Given that we're not stocked with spit bags (or a brig), I'm leery about bringing that onto my ship.

If she isn't recruited, she remains a popsicle and Samara eventually becomes our biotic.

Were you hoping by any chance, that Cerberus would stay "lukewarm good" in ME3?

Still, it would only be right to withdraw a female from an otherwise all-male prison.

@ Others: Jack is not a serial killer. Jack is a mass murderer. They are two entirely different psychological profiles. Learn the difference. Morinth is a serial killer.

@ TheMyron: No, I had no illusions about Cerberus remaining lukewarm good in ME3. They were using Shepard to get assets beyond the Omega 4 Relay, nothing more. They really didn't even care about the human colonies. That was just a quick FF dialogue.

What I'm complaining about is the bad writing. That collector ship was a sitting duck on Horizon. The Normandy was fully upgraded and we could have taken it out with two shots from the Thanix cannon instead of landing to investigate the colony (this was a derp); combed the wreckage for tech; gotten a few upgrades; found the Collectors' IFF; and have been good to go by the time we would have gotten to the "Investigate the Collector Ship" mission during the official game. Basically done in 1/2 the time. Way to go Bioware writing. And this was with Drew Karpyshyn!

Drew probably didn't think anyone would have gathered the resources and upgraded the ship that quickly. Renegade Shepard always does, because Renegade Shepard is paranoid and never knows when she might encounter the Collectors. Renegade Shepard is fun to play. Plus you get Garrus' real feelings about the Council and C-sec and why he went to Omega. He doesn't feel like he has to be on his best behavior.

@Julia, re: Jack, you're right.

@Myron:
Very chivalrous, but I think she'd... I dunno, crush your trachea with her brain for suggesting she couldn't take care of herself.

Up until we see Jack, we do not know her gender. All we have to go on is the dossier provided by TIM, which says Jack is a super-biotic mass-murderer currently locked up in prison.

Again, I do not want that on my ship. Several of my Shepards wouldn't do her recruitment mission if it weren't required to proceed in the plot on that basis. Step up the timetable for recruiting Tali, Samara, and Thane.

She admitted to losing a fight in the prison bathroom, go to the restroom of the dark star lounge with her.

Walk into Tevos's office and force her to meld with me so she can see the **** about the Reapers floating around in my head.
An "Ah Yes Reapers" moment when meeting with the Council in ME3.
Get a **** ton of Hallex and trip balls for about a week straight after defeating the Collectors.

Funny how a mere 100+ year old Asari scientist quickly suggests this right off the bat, but a councilor who is probably in the matron stage never considered it once. Politicians, man. Can't live with 'em, can't toss them all out the airlock.

Nice, you managed to make Shepard even more stupid -the existence of an Independence Day DVD does not prove the existence of an extraterrestrial threat.

* I would have used my omni-tool to record the conversations of Vigil and Sovereign.

* I would have given pieces of Sovereign to Tali to take back to the Migrant Fleet for analysis. Is this Geth Technology?

* Anderson: "I can't tell you anymore, not while you're with Cerberus."
Shepard: "Uh, Anderson? Why don't you just order me back to duty? It's not that complicated."
Anderson: "Oh, that." -- yet another reason why it is Mass Effect Derp... I mean 2.

* After Tali's trial.... Admiral Xen, may I speak with you in private? How would you like to make a deal? You keep Rael's name out of everything I tell you from this moment on, and I give you a present? You copy the technical data onto your ship's computers, then erase this. Tali's father never did any of this, agreed? Now, you owe me.

Xen was the nice Admiral who wasn't interested in the trial. Voiced by Claudia Black. She's the one who did some cyberforensics on Rael's computer and figured out you did get a data file, and got parts of Rael's data. Then sent you that e-mail in ME2. She developed the "flashbang" weapon that allowed the Quarians to plow through the Geth. Now if you'd given her the file earlier it might have saved them like 3 to 6 months development and they would have had Rannoch before the Reapers arrived.

Besides, given a choice between the two, I'll take the Quarians any day.

And before you say anything about the Quarians getting reaped on Rannoch.... did you happen to notice something about the rock on Rannoch? When you were fighting that reaper, its Reaper Thanix Main Gun was hitting that cliff right behind you and not even stirring up dust. Whereas on every other world, the reaper main guns were causing damage to the terrain. I think the Quarians will be just fine.

I destroyed the Heretics, and made sure the Quarians got their home world back. ;)

(P.S. I had to role play through the Geth Consensus mission and not meta game.... meta gaming I knew it was artistic laziness. Role playing... "why are the Quarians in suits?" I know Legion supplied an answer. I just didn't believe him, so since that was the case it made that mission a pack of lies.)

If I was actually Shepard then the galaxy would be screwed. I doubt I would have made it through ME2 before I would have just given up, found myself some tropical planet and spent the remaining days in a intoxicated stupor.

I am drawing a blank right now on other stuff but one thing I would do or better yet say differently would be at the end of the clone arc of the citadel dlc. I would not have let him fall because he would be the closest to any kind of family I would ever know.

I would have punched him in the face, knocking him unconscious.

I would have left Joker to die.

I would have played along with Cerberus until I got the Reaper IFF. Then I would have defected to the Alliance since TIM would not restock me with actual Cerberus troops to hit the Collectors. Then I would use Alliance troops as well as the Normandy to sack the Collectors.

I would not be obsessed about dead kids.

Considering the war assets I've got now, I would glass Tuchanka again, Wrex's absurd demands be damned.

I would get the Normandy to give support on the Thessia mission.

1.) I had to replay ME2 when Shepard applied his "Gift of Foresight"(The player "Me" looked it up on Mass Effect Wikia) and saw this unnecessary attack by the Quarians. I originally reprogrammed the heretics, then had to destroy them instead.

2.) I thought the same thing, when Legion stated he had no image of an unmasked Quarian, even if you romanced Tali, and especially if you destroyed the Geth Incursion in ME1 which ended up with you watching an ancient video of a Quarian concert. My personal response to Legion's excuse/reason was "either that or Bioware was just lazy."
