Or maybe the only set of night vision goggles available is the Umbra Visor.  WTF?  And did everyone forget about rail-guns, laser weapons (for more than defense), invisibility cloaks (on larger objects like tanks and fighters.  Not just individual soldiers), and JETPACKS?!?!  I mean, they're in Star Wars, governments are working on them for the military right now, and it gives the average soldier more versatility in battle.  And what ever happened to HALO (High-altitude.  Low-opening) jumping??  Got it in Star Trek and it's currently in use by spec ops forces (specifically the Navy SEALs).  The Geth and Cerberus' Atlas mechs frequently drop from orbit.  Why don't N7 operatives have that ability? <_<

well a mass-effect-weapon is in fact just a highly advanced railgun/coilgun (it uses mass effect fields instead of rails/coils but otherwise it does the same: accelerate a projectile to high speeds (higher then old-fashioned firearms)...that's why the military today works on such weapons...if you had a working ME-Type-Gun, they would make you wealthiest person alive if you gave it to them...or they would kill you for it, that's cheaper after all ^^)

but the rest of your posting:

yeah - i always woundered why with all that technology their armor-suits were not more advanced (jetpack as mentioned, stealth (not just for certain people) if you want it (and can afford it - which Sheppard surely can...as can the N7-Programm, they are special forces after all), servo-motor-joints and heavy plating (while staying mobile because of the servos) that give you more agility, speed and power (wrestling a Krogan should be no problem in a suit of powered armor) etc.

hell we know that combat-exoskeletons are being developped right at this moment (the end product will probably look like Fallout Power-Armor)

same for weapons: if you have laser-ciws-systems, why not develop bigger systems (even more if you know that kinetic-barriers do not work on lasers)? - and again: humanity is working on laser-guns right now (!) and there are other examples of lasers in ME (in ME1 we had a quite large MINING-LASER...i would have loved mounting a few of those onto the normandy and focusing their beams more ;)

then: how comes no ships in ME have internal defenses (from barriers and automatic-turrets to robots)? (boarding the normandy should not have been that easy in ME2 - for the collectors i mean)

well i'll stop here, otherwise i will write for pages on end ^^

greetings LAX

Speaking of which, why does "Hernando" Cortez always find an excuse to NOT provide covering fire from the Shuttle?

If I was Shepard, the bar on the ship would have more scotch and less glowing orange-what-even-is-that drinks.

And the music selection in my cabin would have been incredibly different. With a lot more Tom Waits, Jethro Tull, and Alice In Chains, and a lot less space pop. Seriously, Shepard, why the blazes is THAT what you relax to?

Would you strap a loudspeaker to the Mako and listen to that as you rode into battle?

Cause he was a fighter pilot?  Oh wait... Fighters occasionally drop bombs or provide air support to ground forces.  nvm...

No, because I suspect we'd try to be a little sneaky. I do suspect, however, that I would crank the internal volume. I do in my car all the time.

I'm a total music junkie in general -- classical, rock, other rock, techo, blues, roots, alternative, bluegrass, folk, pop (that doesn't make me want to beat my face into the dashboard, which is rare). So as a general rule, if I was Shepard, there'd be a lot more music going on. And less of it would be bland and tinkly.

Yes.  And he doesn't use them until the mission where you have to save Koris and the final mission in Leviathan.  I think he is just lazy.

Yes. Thanks, Julia of the shotgun!

Anyway. I would also adopt Urz. I tried hard enough to in ME2.

Shoot TIM in the arm and leg, knock him out with a boot to the face, then Leonidas his ass into the green beam while yelling, "THIS IS MAGIC"

...Or I'd keep in contact with the Alliance during my Collector mission to prevent the level 99 derp of ME3. Alliance reinstatement earlier so that VS doesn't doubt me and I can give the Alliance aand Council a kick in the ass to make them remember the Battle of the Citadel.

 Hmm, what would I do?

Search for Starchild's hard drive.

Reformat it about a half dozen times

Get on radio with Crucible team, figure out how to do a controlled burn with this "adaptive power source" so i don't pull a Coventry on my own allies.

Soak in medigel for a while

I don't get why whenever Shepard gets knocked down, it takes him/her forever to get back up. You would think that all that military training and genetic enhancements would allow Shepard to be able to recover faster from injuries or being knocked on his/her back. Shepard moves like a 70 year-old when s/he is knocked down.

Did Casper the Genocidal Ghost say it had to be a living person? Plus, at least Anderson's body is untainted.

Shoot the magic red tube from a distance and then head back down the magic citadel elevator to chill in the air condition while I either die in peace or get rescued.

Oh, and when Kai-Leng jumps on my sky car, just slam the top of it up against one of the many walkways were were passing. If he's going to steal cereal, he'll be happy as a pancake.
