Shepard had several seconds of time to draw the mech's attention away from the Quarian female, and with the Arc Projector in his hand, he is now a makeshift Tesla Trooper, whose specialty is anti-tank.
But instead he takes cover.

A biotic Shepard or a tech Shepard saving the day makes no sense when there is a biotic Miranda who is also a tech Miranda. Mechs are really powerful, rather large, and this one was far away, realitivily. From that distance, I doubt that they would have been able to do anything.Necanor wrote...

Exactly. A biotic or tech Shep would have had no problems destroying that mech and saving her.
