What if you were Shepard...

Would have just shot Leng while he was looking at Thane.
Not stopped to watch the collector beam and just hit the bloody eject pod button.
Shot Udina in the shoulder to keep him alive
Pointed out to Ash she was helping a Cerberus agent.

You have 5s of poor quality out-of-context footage that, for all we know, might have been taken from a prothean Independence Day or something. There is a reason archaeology is an academic discipline.I would have posted the video I got at the start of ME1 that showed Sovereign on every channel available and told the council to deny it now.
No one ever questioned the existence of the vision; they merely did not share Shepard's (completely unfounded, by the way) belief that the vision was a 100% accurate prediction of things to come.
In any case, 3/4 of ME1 is spent hunting the bits and pieces Shepard needs to understand the vision (Liara, the cipher and a working beacon) so Shepard couldn't possibly have done this at the "start of ME1"
Kai Leng's shields are impervious to small arms fire.Would have just shot Leng while he was looking at Thane.
The eject button with is placed outside the escape pod? Thus requiring someone to sacrifice their lives no matter what?Not stopped to watch the collector beam and just hit the bloody eject pod button.
Ah yes, another armchair SWAT operative; there is a reason the professionals don't do that - just shooting him in the shoulder would probably have resulted in him living long enough to kill the Council before bleeding to death (because there is no "safe place" to shoot people). Brilliant.Shot Udina in the shoulder to keep him alive
Shepard did that, and Ash didn't believe him. Now what?Pointed out to Ash she was helping a Cerberus agent.
Or do you mean later on, e.g. during the party: "Hey Ash, wanna dance? And by the way, do you remember that time when you helped a Cerberus agent almost kill the Council? Good time..."

The footage is clearly a giant ship..you know the same one that many would have seen attack the Citadel and hell if it was from the Prothean times that would be even more reason to show it.
Shepard has some big guns on him or hell you have 4 vs 1! Jump him and beat the crap out of him.
And when shooting him from the car Leng has to bring the shield up to protect himself so from behind without that shield = Leng down. Not to mention Anderson takes both the guys legs out in one of the books.
I doubt the pod doesn't have one itself. The only reason Shepard gets knocked out of said pod is because he/she stares at the pretty beam like a ******.
Shepard has a clear shot of him and is an excellent shooter as well and I doubt Udina would be composed enough to still try and kill someone with a bullet in his shoulder. No he would go down and probably **** himself.
Ash gives more than enough crap because Shepard worked with Ceberus to stop the collectors while the alliance that she loves so much did nothing.

I do find it interesting that Sovereign managed to travel to Feros, Noveria, and probably a few other places, yet the Council never asked the question: "Hey, Saren, where did you get that giant warship you've been tooling around in? It doesn't match any known design. Nor does its IFF match any known IFF." -- this is another Fridge Logic moment. (see TV Tropes).
Salarian Councilor: "There is no evidence that Sovereign wasn't a Geth creation."

It stands to reason that they would assume that the geth have been pretty busy, isolated behind the veil for 300 years or so. It's still frustrating, since they could just as well assume that there may be more than one of these crazy powerful ships out there. Also, unless I'm mistaken, an IFF is used to positively identify friendly targets, but not positively identify hostiles, so the reaper could simply not reply to IFF interrogation.

I didn't say it was a reaper. I just was curious where he got that 2 km long warship. That's all. I'd like to hear his explanation.

Aside from that, though, there are some things...
- On Mars, I would have asked TIM how he intends to control the Reapers (and showed a little more respect to him).
- After Thessia, I would have called the Asari councilor out. She knew about that beacon for how long, exactly? Days? Years? DECADES?
- I wouldn't have turned myself in. I'm still a Spectre and have more important things to do than sit on my ass in house arrest.
- I would have opened fire at Kai Leng at the first opportunity with the biggest weapon at hand.
I'll think of more later.

Turian Councilor: "Talk like that proves just how fragile your mental state is."
The council as a whole has agreed that first the Geth built Sovereign;
Then Saren somehow got a hold of the ship;
He then used its com-links to convince the Geth that Sovereign was a god, and that he, Saren was its prophet.
