As somebody who isn't really into MMOs, I didn't greet Kotor with open arms. I honestly prefer single-player and smaller multiplayer titles. KOTOR 3 would honestly be greately appreciated.
Alternately, a new title similar to KOTOR set after Return of the Jedi that uses the Wizerds of the Coast rules would also be very welcome.
Bioware allegedly working on a new Star Wars game. Does this confirm KOTOR 3?

No, it does not. On the other hand, what do I know
It could be that they will be making games to support the new movies -> times after Return of the Jedi. I really hope I am wrong. I would like to see a rpg-style game in the kotor era.

If EA does have Bioware working on KOTOR 3, hopefully it doesn't involve us building a Death Star and choosing between:
- Control the Sith
- Synthesizing all Living / Droid Midichlorians together
- Destroy the Sith (which includes destroying all Droids as well)

Neither SWKotOR nor SWKotOR-2 were MMO games, not at all.Dasher1010 wrote...

The only problem with KotOR is OpenGL graphics, rather than DirectX.I honestly prefer single-player and smaller multiplayer titles. KOTOR 3 would honestly be greately appreciated.
It's quite old now. Ten years. The SW Battlefront games are also quite elderly, as games go, although DICE is supposed to be working on an entirely independent game in the Battlefront game's mold.
You, however, probably have SWTOR in mind.

Just curious, would it be possible to use the same models of Kotor 1 and re use them into newer graphic engine?
For example, Source, Havok or Frostbite engines.

When EA announced the LucasFilm partnership, they said Dice and Visceral would join BioWare in developing Star Wars games. This doesn't mean BioWare is making a new Star Wars game, but that they're still working on SWTOR.

Odds are, it'll be a Knights of the new Republic. Just as DA has become more action based, a psuedo-turn based combat system could work well in a tie in game around the same time that Episode VII comes out. It's the most logical choice.

I sincerely doubt that they'd rope a developer like Bioware into doing tie-ins. When they first got the licence for a Star Wars game 10 years ago it was originally going to tie-in loosely with the prequels, Bioware then rejected the idea because they wanted more creative freedom. As far as I know there's been nothing else established in the Old Republic era outside of Bioware's games and the Darth Bane novels by KOTOR's lead writer, Drew Karpyshyn. I think it'd make more sense for a developer like Visceral to do tie-ins and to let Bioware keep working in the Old Republic era.
With the end of the ME trilogy the only two active franchises at Bioware are Dragon Age and the Old Republic. I think we'll likely see a new KOTOR game before a new Mass Effect. I'm just hoping to see a decent balance between the tactical depth of DA:O and the more action orientated DA2 in DA:I that could be implemented in KOTOR3. I want a new KOTOR but I also want it to do the franchise justice.
