to see in DA3, I'm wondering what are 5 things you definitely don't
want to see. I've looked through the DA3 forums and didn't find any
thread like this. If I overlooked it my mistake. Anyways,, starting
off
1) Less deja vu when it comes to companion personalites.
If you've played more than two Bioware games I'm sure most of you've
know by now that they like to play with certain tropes regarding
certain characters. The naive girl.
( Tali, Dawn Star, Mission
Vao, Merrill, ) The war monger with stories ( Wrex,,
Zaeed, Canderous, ). Jerk/Rogue with a heart of gold. ( Sky,
Isabella, Zevran, )
I would just like to see more subversions
and layers to the character aside from the typical archetype. ( I do
realize some of these characters do have depth and develop. It's just that as I
started to play more of BioWare's games after talking to a companion
for a few minutes, I can already tell what kind of character they were going
to be.
2) Blood mages, BLOOD MAGES EVERYWHERE!!
I can understand why some mages turn to blood magic. But why does pretty much every " evil " mage we come across have to have blood magic? How about giving us a mage that genuinelly wanted to be free from the circle, NOT turning to blood magic in the process or one with legitmate motivations. Again, without turning to blood magic. That'll blur the line a little better. Also, the lore surrounding the start of the circle was pretty damn good when I read it. How about going more in depth on that.
3) Deja Vu when it comes to game progress
Aside from character tropes, Bioware has a similar affair when it comes to the way you progress in the game. It goes something like this. " 1 place -> 4 places -> 1 place + a quest per character . " Dragon Age 2 didn't really follow this route. ( One of the things I liked about the game ) I would like for them to continue straying away from it
4) Excessive pandering
I understand the need to make certain changes and desires when it comes to a game. Some can be for the better. Some can be for the worse. Subjectively or objectively. Fanservice can be good at times. However I dislike things that are put into the game solely because people ask for it. Mainly in regards to characters and romance.. Let's say ... Gaider creates a gay character. I don't believe nothing about that character should be changed at all since that's what he originally intended. It's the same if a character were to be bisexual, heterosexual, or asexual. I dont believe these aspects of a character should be altered just because people create threads asking for it. I also don't believe Bioware should give certain characters a larger or minor role just because of a positive or negative reaction.
5) Filler combat
I don't think this needs an explanation.

- New questions with no answers to old questions
- 1 Dungeon, that is dungeon A when door 1 is open and door 2 is closed, and dungeon B when door 1 is closed and door 2 is open.
- Elves that look like the mutant offspring of a donkey and a Broodmother
- A protagonist that 'conveniently disappears' at the end

4) Ridiculous over-the-top animations (and weapon models...)
3) Too many re-used environments. Some are excusable, but...
2) Don't bring back characters for the sake of bringing them back, and in the process messing with headcanons, epilogues, etc. Especially not romance characters, like Leliana in DA2...still butthurt about that, I know, I know...
1) Forced human protagonist. Too late, I know, but I'm putting it in here anyway.

There is no way for you to definitively know a character's sexuality unless said character explicity spells it out for you in game, or the character's creator explicity spells it out for you. Because of this, there is no real basis for you to claim that their sexuality is being "altered" in order to "pander."
Why do you care so much if their sexuality is "altered" (according to you). I see this idea tossed around a lot and I just don't see why it is such a huge deal.

!) Cullen
2) all demons being absolutely evil. I would like one demon that doesn't want to feast on every living person in thedas. maybe one like Cole, though idk if he is truly a demon or what kind of spirit he really is.
3) the PC owning a mabari, especially a brown one.
4) modern assault rifles.
5) star child or any type of DA equivalent.

With EA, things like this is likely inevitable

4) Gimmicky boss fights
3) Armorless/pantsless/shirtless/whateverless characters who's appearance I can't change. If characters are going to be charging into battle on a regular basis, they should look like they're dressed for the situation. I understand the need to make characters look distinctive, but I believe this can be accomplished while keeping them from looking like cariactures
2) Multiplayer: Automatic "Wait until the end of the dlc cycle to purchase", at least
1) Forced tragic endings. Seriously, DAO had a nice spread of outcomes. Good. Bad. In-between, based on player choice. Use that as a model. Not...a certain other game...

2) Tallis
3) Morrigan and/or OGB
4) Companions that outright hate each other
5) Dungeon recycling

1.) Superhuman combat animations. I know "realistic" is a loaded word that can lead to endless arguments but can we at least go back to believable-looking combat?
2.) Cameos. I'm really fine with never seeing a character from the previous games again. Would prefer it that way.
3.) Filler combat. Like the OP said. When we fight someone there should be a believable reason for it. No endless hoards of bandits falling from the sky please.
4.) Over-the-top companion introductions. I don't need to see a potential companion kill a million ninjas or beat up a bunch of guys or pull off a cool impossible looking archery move and then strike a pose the first time I see them.
5.) Focus group tested fanservicey love interests. Alas, why can't companions be believable, interesting, three dimensional characters first and foremost? Characters like Thane, Fenris and Isabella seemed like they were designed by committee to be sexy.

I like all of these. A huge part of me wants to see Morrigan and this god baby at some point though.

2) Finding pointless loot items; at least in DAO a "Rusty Metal Spoon" would be an items you could use to build a trap.
3) Being forced to "help" bloodmages who will later kidnap a family member.

Non-bisexual/playersexual LI's (unless there is an equal number of orientations per gender)
OGB as canon
Not being able to do some serious damage to the Qunari if they appear as aggressors
Isabela in any way, shape, or form

I will NEVER understand why people hate the All-Bi characters so much. It makes everything so so so so so much easier for Bioware, and it means a lot to gay people like me who really would have loved to romance Garrus, Alistair, etc.
I agree Anders should not have come on to the player. But I really think its possible for characters to be straight in one play through, and gay in another. People who complain about this stuff need to learn empathy...

Yeah, hopefully that doesn't happen here. I won't incite certain " discussions " that I've seen take place on other forums.

Oh I want Cullen alright. I want his skull to use as an ashtray. And no, I don't smoke. It would be strictly for guests.Seraph Cross wrote...

On topic:
(1) Cullen
(2) Bodhan
(3) Childish/childlike LIs
(4) Traps that require Rogues to detect
(5) Cameos of Hawke/Warden that "canonizes" them ala Revan in SWTOR
