OK, my deal is that I want my Shepard to be pure Paragon.  I don't want a single Renegade point, even when it's annoying or more difficult not to go down that path.

At the end of "The Convict" mission when you talk to Jack, no matter what conversation options I choose, I always pick up a few Renegade points!  I know I'm clean right before the fight with Warden Kuril.

Is this a glitch?  It bugs me every time I go to the Squad screen.  Image IPB

There are a few points in the game where you seem to earn Paragon and/or Renegade points for seemingly no reason.

My suggestion is to ignore it. It may be slightly annoying but it will not hurt you at all.

I don't know if it is a glitch or not, but what I do know is that often in ME2 you will be rewarded with both paragon and renegade points no matter what. This happened to me often after recruitment missions and another time after aquiring Legion I think. I do not really understand this considering ME2 is a game that encourages you to either go full-out renegade or full-out paragon. Otherwise you may not have enough points for the Miranda/Jack argument or the Legion/Tali one.

As said, i'm not entirely sure if it is a glitch or not, but this isn't an uncommon problem with ME2. It annoys me endlessly too, since I often click the neutral dialogue responses sometimes during the game, and those responses alone gain a lot more renegade points than I appreciate. And then the game awards me random points after missions too! Makes me annoyed when i'm playing.

Conclusion: Either it is a glitch or it is one of the "gaining both paragon and renegade points scenarios".

Thanks for the feedback and info! I know I'm being silly, but I take my role playing (too) seriously. I have an idea what I want my character to be, so I was annoyed that the game kind of circumvented that.

ME1 would sometimes give you both types of points for certain things as well.

You have enough as long as you do still play as a paragon/renegade.

As far as I can tell some choices aren't morally clear-cut even if they heavily weigh on one side or the other. Same with some dialgoue - the meaning may be paragon but it's sometimes said in a very genegade-y manner.

Well, you did release a dangerous convict who then blew up a space station... I'd say that warrants a few renegade points.

This. A pure paragon wouldn't even consider recruiting Jack, let alone paying the cost in doing so. The unavoidable renegade points are 100% justified.
