Ehhhhh... I'll leave that decision for E3.

basing it on trailers is not wise. if you mean the info they give I also advise caution because they aren't gonna say this wasn't good and we aren't sure how good this will be they are only gonna say it will be amazing. and they should since they are selling a game.

I'll wait for gameplay previews. I've played the first 2, and neither really make me salivate for more. It's possible they'll nail DA3, but I really have to see some result of their work. My Gamer's instinct is usually strong enough to tell whether the rise is worth $60.

No stardusk, everyone's time is already up anyway, no point in looking forward to things.

Was it correct though?

To me ME3 felt more like an action-heavy TPS with a very shallow and weak plot, that completely falls appart at the end.

And then there was the multiplayer surprise (which ironically turned out to be better than the singleplayer), that bullcrap DRM, disc-locked content  and stripped characters and story arcs, to be sold back to us seperately as day-one DLC. All that stuff was revealed later AFTER I already preordered ME3.

Yeah, best not to pre-order any EA games anymore, just to be sure.

It was exactly correct. Mass Effect's combat experience was similar, though more polished. The RPG experience was similar, though it might be argued diminished. The story focus was about ten times stronger.

The story was ten times weaker too. But at least ME3 had a plot (a god-awful stupid plot though). The plot in ME2 was pretty much non-existent, in favour of the meaningless character plots (loyalty missions).

Functionally, everything was the same.

No it wasn't.

Just like DA:O and DA ][: plot and character heavy RPGs with turn-based, "tactical" combat. Just like Assassin's Creed--Third-Person Adventure game heavy on plot and protagonist characterization. Just like TES (at least since Morrowind)--fantasy FPS with almost no characterization, a grand sweeping plot, and a heavy focus on world exploration.

You did NOT just call TES a "fantasy first person shooter", did you? You did? HAHAHAHAHAHA!

With DA2- I pre-ordered the second that we were able to, even though the short dev cycle made me wary and even though the clips of combat and the E3 playable previews of the game spelled out "lame, trash mob combat" to me.  I have loved Bioware (minus the sonic chronicles, which I think we can all agree were some sort of odd, cross dimensional fluke) since there was a Bioware to love, and I REALLY loved DAO, so I just couldn't bring myself to believe that Bioware would put a substandard product onto the market.

Then, DA2 happened.

I thought "Well, it wasn't bad, exactly, it just wasn't great.  The dev cycle was rushed, and they still managed to come out with a game that I felt disappointed in, but not heartbroken over.  Everybody gets a B- or C every once-in-a-blue-moon, even the A students, right?  They'll learn from this, and the next one will be better."

Then ME3 happened.

I was so excited for ME3, and I even got the early demo download provided to all the amazing folks at femshep.com.  I loved the multiplayer and the few bits of story so much that I even skipped a couple primo surfing opportunities to play every night for two weeks straight.  My faith was restored and I was raring to go for the actual game- which didn't end up having an updatable task journal, introduced nothing new or significant to the MEverse that didn't get un-made by the end, and provided no real closure.

At this point, we've got two strikes- one chance left.  So, yes.  I will preorder DA3, and I'm going to really hope that this isn't the last preorder I send Bioware's way.  Bases are load, devs, count's full, and either this one gets slammed out of the park, or I head back to the dugout with my wallet.

Pre-order and get day 1 DLC for free or pay $10 (and since they got away with the whole From Ashes thing, you just know it's going to be even worse this time) , you know they're going to do it. When the time comes, people will gobble it up just as they did it every single time. Face it, gamer just like being treated horribly for some reason.

Considering DA2 was quite good, if a little disappointing, and ME3 was really great... Yes, I will be pre-ordering.

Why is day one DLC "being treated horribly."

I'll likely preorder the game, though if I see Day One DLC, I'm gonna take a few deep breaths.

It is better to make a more clear decision after DA3 gets shown at E3. DA2 did not spoil my apetite because I enjoyed it, even with its flaws.

I already did pre-order DA3.

Well, not so much "pre-order," I guess, but I mailed Bioware a blank check and wrote "For DA3" in the memo line.

...

Come to think of it, I hope Mike Laidlaw and everyone aren't out there right now spending all of my money on booze.

Isn't there a requirement for every EA game to have day one DLC?

DA2 pre-order was £25 and included the DLC, if DA3 offers a similarly good deal then I'll likely go for it.

Won't if I can't get game + significant day one DLC for £30 or less. In that case I'll wait for the price to come down.

I don't see why I wouldn't preorder. I haven't regretted preordering a game from Bioware yet.

And say what you want about DA2 & ME3, both came out with a demo in plenty of time to cancel pre-orders. So not seeing the Heavy Risk, and you still get the Prize.

I was not nearly as unhappy with DA2 & ME3 as so many here seem to have been.

So, yes, I will be preordering DA3. In fact, I keep asking every time I stop in GameStop for one reason or another, and they keep telling me it's too early to pre-order yet. LOL

Don't be silly.  They're spending it on geese...or a goose.  Ganders, really.

I'll likely preorder, though whether it stands depends on what I see and hear before I go into BSN lockdown to avoid spoilers and when I play the demo.

DAO was the first game I pre ordered. Bioware offered a ton of extra stuff in the game and a free upgrade to the "deluxe digital edition".

I have played video games since 1977 and DAO is my favorite game.. Mass Effect 1 and 2 are among the top 10 best games I have played.

But I feel badly burned by DA2.
And Mass Effect 3 was even worse where EA was offered a perfect solution (the indoctrination theory) and refused to use it just because the big wigs new best.

The old Bioware is dead. The EA arrogance.

Nah. After DAII and the ME3 ending debacle I'm going to be pretty leery from now on involving Bioware.
