I won't decide on whether I'll pre-order or not until I've seen more information about the game, which we will see at E3. I'll definitely buy it, it's just a matter of when I'll buy it. I'm also unsure if I'll buy it from our local game store or of the internet - it depends on if I get a gift card for my birthday or not.

Nah.

I'm saving my money for a 3DS, a PS4, Preordering Destiny, and Dark Souls 2. If DA3 is good I'll pick up, but I won't preorder. But who knows, E3 might change my mind.

And Mass Effect 3 was even worse where EA was offered a perfect solution (the indoctrination theory) and refused to use it just because the big wigs new best.

BioWare refused the indoctrination theory because it's stupid.

Oh my God.... I agree with you... *looks out the window to see if pigs are flying*

Wisdom and rationality would dictate I wait for reviews and such to buy and resist the temptation of shiny bonuses and playing at minute 1.

I'm not wise, and when it comes to DA, rationality isn't an option.

I guess I'm going to.
They wouldn't try the disappointment thing thrice.

Or would they ...

Yes. I mean, unless it turns out that it's asking for microtransactions to pause or something ridiculous like that.

A possibly better scheme would be to charge a microtransactions to UNpause, actually.

I am very invested in the world but don't plan to pre-order or buy DA3. The lack of race options is a main sticking point for me, though I have hope from some of Mike Laidlaw's recent tweets that this option will return.

I will, without a doubt, pre-order.  :wizard:

As many others in this thread have observed, I think both DA2 and ME3 were excellent games.  Yes, DA2 was rushed, and suffered from several "design choice" and "design shortcut" flaws.  (Please BioWare, no more attempts at implementing an "Awesome Button", and I found the map-reuse less annoying than the kiting critters, but that's me.)  Its worst offense though?  Simply not being as good as DAO!

Yes, ME3's ending was was a bit 2-dimensional (no matter which one you chose.)  But the "Extended Edition" helped there, (or made it worse, depending on your taste.)  And the "Citadel" DLC was a nice final touch.

So while I have concerns that DA3 won't be everything I might hope (multiple races/backstories for your PC being the feature I'd most like to see with the least probability of happening) I am eagerly awaiting the chance to find out.

they will not have multiple races but theere will be origins that effect some things but you won't be able to play the small origin story like you did in the very beggining of DAO before ostagar. but I like the idea that we will be able to be different in the way other people see the PC. also it is nice to see someone who can see the flaws and the good in DA2 or ME3. there were some things I absolutely hated about ME3 and DA2 was rushed and it showed but both were good games

We'll see. Both ME3 and DA2 were disappointments to me (and many others). My faith is low, and pre-orders require faith in the game dev.

Never used to preorder. Buying while a game was full priced and recently released, yes, but not preorder. Until me3. Going back to not preordering. Giving a game a week or so after release, to gage reaction, isn't such a bad thing...at least for me. Though I will most likely still buy the game. I enjoyed both DA games. Just trying to get away from buying things that I don't end up finishing/using/enjoying (that goes for anything extraneous I may spend my money on.).

I pre-ordered both DA2 and ME3. I'm going to learn from my mistakes and be patient.

Of course people are going to preorder DA3, what kind of dumb question is this?

No. Even in the context of your original post:

Just like TES (at least since Morrowind)--fantasy FPS with almost no characterization, a grand sweeping plot, and a heavy focus on world exploration.

You're explicitly calling TES an FPS. It may have been a bit of hyperbole in an attempt to make a point, but to call it an FPS is at best misleading, but honestly it's just plain wrong. In gaming terms, FPS is a genre. If you mean TES has a first person camera, say that, but that has very little to do with functionality/mechanics of the game. It is the presentation. Don't confuse the two.

That's fair. I would disagree, but I understand your point.

lol no I will spoiler the heck out if it to make sure its worth money, read consumer reviews and then try to get it for free by any means necessary if its worth getting.

hmmm that sounds wrong by any means necessary means someone buys it for me as a gift or I get giftcards, promotional something... I am not a pirate.

maybe my brother buys it plays it then i get his copy

No. After pre-ordering the HUGE disappointment that is Mass Effect 3 and abomination that is Dragon Age 2, I'm just going to wait and see how Dragon Age 3 turns out. If I like what I see, I may buy it pre-owned or just rent it. If not, well I'm never going to play another Bioware game again. Simple.

Lets see. DA2 was an insult to gaming, ME3 was awful as well (the whole game was awful), the failure that is TOR. Yeah.... No.

Yeah I will be. Especially if the CE is similar to what ME3 had in terms of extra content.

I'll be lying if I said "I might have to think about this". Despite ME3's controversy (in regards to the ending), I don't regret pre-ordering the game.
