I hope the "DUNNN, DUN DUN DUN" sound is back in some form.

Yeah, you know, from the main themes?

In case you have no idea what I'm talking about, you can hear it here, at 0:45:

I know, silly thread is silly. But to me, it wouldn't be Dragon Age without this sound, so I hope it's back in DA3!  =]

I would prefer an entirely new soundtrack. I can't remember any remarkable themes from the first or second games.

Bahaha. I'm glad you explained what kind of 'dun dun dun' you were talking about, because I thought you were asking for Dragon Age to include this!

Not that that wouldn't be awesome, mind. ;)

Personally, I'll never forget the DAO camp theme.

Not Inon Zur's fault if you have bad music taste, leliana's song and DA:O's main theme are awesome, I quite like Fenris' Theme too

Personally I hope this song makes another appearence in some way, but some music from the previous games showing up here and there wouldn't be a problem for me, since I like Inon Zur's work.

I don't think any of it is bad, just not amazing. I think the ME games had more memorable soundtracks. This for example. It's not complicated or emotional, but it's memorable.

This and this. Both are emotional and memorable. This. And this. Can't forget this one. Oh, and can't forget this one, either.

And many more that I didn't link. There are a few (very few) tracks in the Dragon Age games that stand out and make me pause and listen to them. Where as in ME, almost every track gets my attention.

Because clearly I have bad taste just because I don't like what you like.

Oh I'll admit the DA soundtracks don't have many tracks that stand out to me.

From recollection, the ones I recall that I love very much are the DAO Camp theme, Leliana's Song, Qunari on the Rise, Fenris' theme, and...there might me more but I can't think of them.

I hope later games have more tracks, both ambient and otherwise, that I can remember and enjoy.

Oi, and the Mass Effect games definitely had more memorable tracks, all the way from the start to the finish.

I will always associate my favorite moments in DA:O with that theme from giving Sten his sword to giving Morrigan the mirror. If we meet some of our DA:O companions I hope they play that theme in the background just as it was when you met them for the very first time.

I love me some Inon Zur, so I'd love more of the same. Honestly, I like it when sequels have the same basic musical themes as the previous games, though expanded on and tweaked. You know, like Mass Effect.

Agreed. I don't know about ME as I haven't played too much of it, but I love in other game series when a tune from an old game pops up in a newer installment.

As for Inon Zur, I heard he wasn't going to compose for  DA3.  Does anyone know if that's true?

Well, Mass Effect is a Sci-Fi game, so you can have catchy techno-synthesizer-sounding tunes there. I think the problem with Fantasy soundtracks is that it's gotten kinda stale, there's little innovation, it's always the same kind of instruments and sounds.
Of course, there are exceptions, like the games from the TES series, most notably Morrowind and even Skyrim. I can totally imagine that one chilly theme in Skyrim that sometimes plays when you're in the open world. It has such a memorable sound to it - makes me wonder what they used to produce it.
Well, I hope that when the devs said they were taking a look at Skyrim, they really meant to say they were just listening to some Skyrim.

God Skyrim was such an amazing game. I think the soundtrack for it was perfect, just incredible.

DA's soundtracks have come nowhere remotely close to it, as far as my ears are telling me.

Then you should check out Morrowind and Oblivion.

ID's Inon Zur is the best Inon Zur, imo.

There are a number of things the new composer(s) will need to do, it they intend to keep that certain feeling DAO and DAII had (Audrey Ashburn, the DUUUN, dun-dun-DUUUN, the choir in the circle tower/bone pit, and so forth).
