Just because it is someone's opinion that something is a mistake, doesn't mean it isn't actually a factual mistake, either.....

Are we really equating Mass Effect 3's issues with Highlander 2?

Because, I mean, damn

Not the entire game but I'd be lying if is said certain aspects of synthesis didn't remind me of Ramirez.

Doesn't mean it is either.

Think about how many people dig the Star Trek reboot, both critics and movie-goers.

Now, read this article on why its writing destroyed the franchise.

Were those all "mistakes"?

My response was to Robosexual.  Which I should have made clear as I missed your post coming after his.  However, we can make the most of this mistunderstanding.  In the post quoted above, you are basically bringing up the point he did, I though.  I was noting the opposite of that.  Now we are in full redundancy mode.  Which, after all, does in fact support the banal nature of our posts.  Long live the thread! Oh, I know.  The carousel is fun!

I was just tossing out some added perspective on another popular franchise that was "ruined" by what some perceived to be factual narrative dismantling.

Noting the opposite of something that doesn't actually bring anything new to the conversation, change anything, or counter anything, is pretty redundant.

Just because it's someone's opinion that something is a mistake, doesn't mean it actually is a mistake. Saying "it doesn't mean it isn't" doesn't counter that or change anything, you're basically just saying it's their opinion, not reality, what is what I said.

Yah, dreamgazer, I basically am pointing out the flaw of simply handwaving away what someone says as (my characterization), "Just an opinion," which I think we agree on. Particularly when the success of your product depends on people's opinions. For example, if people think Goodyear sucks, and yet they put their tires on my car and they perform better than whatever they are currently using, it matters a whole lot less what they said. You give them a video game and half of them say it sucks, there's no roadtest you are going to be able to do that's going to prove otherwise. And that matters a whole lot more....

Sure, if half of them says it sucks.

What are the figures on the people that said ME3 sucks again?

On BSN more then half of people say that ME3 endings suck big time. It says nothing about the opinion of several millions of ME3 vict...,erm, consumers of course.
But al long as we are on BSN....

So at least half of an incredible minority thinks it sucks.

The pew-pew action, the zany sci-fi plot, the flashy lens flares and the sex with green alien babes ... which earned $250m domestic gross, critical raves, and another installment.

Huh.  Sounds kinda familiar.

Well, it could be half the incredible minority thinks it is good!

We don't know.  BioWare says they do on secret spreadsheets that they can't show us.  Which just makes them look stupid, even if they are telling the truth.

Your point is who knows the numbers really, right?  I agree.  That is why it is dumb to call SOMEONE A VOCAL MINORITY with no backup.  Hey, I mentioned who just did that, didn't I?

I will.   Because I'm at least as qualified as you! Image IPB  What the hell do you consider a Mass Effect expert to be anyway?  Is that some sort of unicorn that lives in your pretend world?

Surely you already knew that the answer to the first question was "yes".

It's entertaining mindless action despite ST '09 being a Nemesis rehash.

Lol! I like old and new Star Trek, with some notable exceptions.  But I find the Onion says it perfectly...

Actually I wasn't sure. I don't really follow movie media that much, and some people I talked to seemed kinda meh about it, while others said it was "ok, considering..."

Personally I found it just annoying, even though I like me some green alien sex and some pew pew. Kirk's bad boy backstory was just utterly hackneyed, and the overall plot made very little sense. It's genuinely surprising to read about "critical acclaim".

I've actually read some discussions that try to present Nemesis as the better film of the two.  They're ... interesting.

At least Nemesis had Picard in it, and not some antique automobile racing juvenile delinquent third hand Jimmy Dean wannabe.

Well, Abrams' stuff typically isn't about making sense. He's kind of like Bio that way.

Maybe he's just "post-plot", like that Tomb Raider movie. They actually called it that.

So in conclusion, the analogy that was used definately doesn't apply to ME3.
